Window Tinting recommendations

I am looking for a window tinting company that could come to Huntington and do the Windshields & some of the salon windows.Can anyone recommend a company?
 
I will ask my son, he just bought a new car and is getting them tinted. I think the rules for cars and boats are different as cars can't be too dark on front windows and windshield. He wakes up around 2:00!!!

The rules are (just was in court on a speeding ticket) that no after market tinting is allowed..... if your son gets caught, it will be a min. 300.00 ticket plus a 55.00 NYS surcharge.

According to the NY State Vehicle and Traffic Law under section 375-12, if you have a 1992 or later model year passenger car or station wagon, the side windows adjacent to AND behind the operators seat must have a light transmittance of SEVENTY PERCENT or greater. If you own a vehicle classified by the EPA as a truck or light truck ONLY the area BEHIND the operators seat may be tinted with a tint less than seventy percent. These types of vehicles include but are not limited to: SUVs, Mini Vans, Full size vans and Pick up trucks. All types of vehicles 1992 or later, the windows adjacent to the operators seat must have a light transmittance of seventy percent or greater. If your vehicle is older than a 1992 it must conform to a older V&T section which was a light transmittance of greater than thirty five percent. This section was first written in the 1985 era.
What is light transmittance? If clear glass has a light transmittance of 100 percent, than any type of tint or film that is placed on the glass to impede the outside light from transmitting through the glass to the inside would lessen the light transmittance. If half of the light from the outside is blocked by the tint then the light transmittance would be fifty percent.
Rear Windows: The rear most window can be tinted to any percentage IF the vehicle is equipped with side rear view mirrors on both sides.
Exemptions: There is a exemption for medical reasons. More information can be obtained at any DMV office.
How do the officers measure the tint? Some patrols carry a tint meter that accurately measures the light transmittance.
 
When he pulls you over.......... if he can't see the $100.00 bill your waving inside the car.................its too DARK.
 
My son got a ticket for the tints being too dark. The officer has a small plastic strip that he held against the window, and based upon what lettering showed up on his strip, he could tell the percentage of tint.
 
Equipment violations are $130 including the surcharge - BUT - he has 30 days to remove it and the ticket will be dismissed. Vehicle gets reinspected by a PO who will fill out a correction form or the form can be filled out by the shop that corrects(removes) it. Regular equipment violations such as a headlight or tail light being out get 24 hrs to be repaired.

Passing a stopped school bus is a $300 hit - one of the highest fines around barring a real high speed or commercial vehicle violations.
 
Hey do they make bow bouncing thrusters? You know like the cars in the hood that stop at a light with the dark tinted glass and then the front of the car starts jumping and the boom box is NOT playing Lite-FM. [:-jump]
 
WTf... this tint BS is still around... I got so many tickets in the 80's for tinted windows...

Stuff hanging from the rear view mirror... Lic plate being covered... Bong in clear view. It was one female cop ... loved busting my balls... she'd go looking for me .... and find me ....

ahh to be young again

So what was your wheels in the 80's ? A Trans-AM ? :-)

I sat in court (Head of the Harbor) and saw 2 people get charged 300.00. I guess the private police departments put a vig on the fine? :)

OOOF! as we say - that is a heavy hit for something that can be corrected.

I work for Old Brookville PD - we cover 7 different villages and therefore have 7 different courts. Their fines are all exactly the same though. I brought the sheet home tonight and for a guilty plea to a first offense it lists the fine as only $90(including the surcharge) for an equipment violation, not the original $130 I thought it was. $130 fines are for things like red lights, uninspected, tail gating , etc.

Head of the Harbor sure banged em hard, I hope they went easier on you.
