The other day port side wiper blade broke off at arm cap over spindle. Leaving the broken cap end on the spindle. Wipers have been on for years. If I use WD-40 or Liquid Wrench on spindle will the broken end cap pop off?
Hmmm, not sure about that. You may have to do some creative prying with a homemade tool, unless there is something readily available. Make sure that there is no retaining clip or other device holding the cap over the spindle...
If you have access to a small grinder or sawz-all carefully make cuts 180 degrees opposite from each other and with a small screwdriver split the arm cap and pry off. A pair of water pumps may also help. You need to be careful not to damage the splines. This will probably take some time in order to not cause any damage so get yourself in as comfortable a position as you can. Billy K.
Hey Ken,
Be careful of the grinder idea...it will work great but cover up the glass as the hot sparks can embed themselves in the glass. AND if your gas fill or vent is anywhere close you could have an added extra .....and EXPLOSION.
