I just got home from paying for winter storage and noticed the contract has tax on it. Is winter storage really taxable? I can understand the service portion of it (lift and block), but storage???

If I rented a garage to store a small boat, I don't think I would be taxed by the landlord!

Damn government taxes!

Thanks,

Jim

I got nailed for sales tax (~$84.00)on storage but then again I'm in NJ !!

I checked with our CPA a few years ago on this very topic and while a slip is taxable (considered a service) winter storage is not. This is in NY. My guess is the person who makes up your bill does not really know.

Not sure how winter storage on land would be any different than summer storage in the water for tax purposes. Aren't they both a service?

"STOP" complaining & give 62% of your income to taxes; especially if you live in NJ !

All politicians should serve two terms: One in office & one in prison !
