I have a 2001 Carver 356 with a Icerette ice maker on the aft deck. I winterized the boat and let the ice maker run for 36 hours (the water pump was on) in hopes of seeing antifreeze in the catch basin. When I rechecked the ice maker, no progress.
I searched the forum and learned that having AF go through the ice maker is not advisable. The other threads were not helpful however, in getting me to the final goal....winterizing the ice maker. Any help is appreciated.

Sal356, any hints?

It's been a few years since I have used the pink stuff, I blow out the lines through the dockside water connection. First year with an ice maker , I believe I can do the same with that and the washer machine. Dave ( Current Sea) I believe does it that way.

Do not put pink in the ice maker, it will ruin it. Just disconnect the inlet and drain it out. Then you can blow through the inlet to get all the remaining water out. Remember, the internals are below freezing when it is running!

That's funny I never really thought about it this way.

The only thing I have left to blow out is my Ice maker simply because I forgot to do it when I did everything else.

Dave,
do you blow it out through the dockside connection?

Better have good lungs if you do it through dockside!

Guys, put a small 120v switch in the line to control the valve from the front. Then hook up a compressor to the dock side and work your way around the system. Use the switch to open the valve a few times until nothing but air comes out (once the rest of the system has been drained).

I wasn't able to find a schematic online but I think there is one inside the back cover. So if you take it out to winterize it now, take the back cover off and look at the schematic. It should be pretty easy to hook up the switch and leave long enough wire on the switch to have the switch up front under the grill where you can get to it easily, without removing the whole machine.

After i blow the water out of all of the lines, I leave the compressor attached to the water system holding some pressure in the lines. When the ice machine cycles, it open the water valve and the last batch of water is purged out of the ice machine. Simple.

Turn on your fresh water pump and make sure you have enough pink stuff in it . Also make sure the sink above has pink stuff coming out. I think when you dump all the water out you might have gotten air in the line to the ice maker.
