This is my first time keeping boat afloat in winter. We are at Inner Harbor Marina and plan to be sleeping weekends on the boat. I know others have a set up for an air hose line into the dockside water connection. Can we simply blow out water system on Sunday night, add a little anti- freeze and then the following Friday just run the taps dry and add fresh water to use for the weekend? Any help here would be appreciated.

Larry,

I'm right across the harbor from you in Inner Harbor East, and my home port is GYB. As you are going to "weekend", as opposed to full time liveaboard as we are, your idea of draining the tank and blowing out the lines is the simple and effective process to use. You shouldn't need any AF if the lines are clear. Does the marina have "winter water" available? You may be able to use a hose wihtout filling your tanks; not having to empty tanks at the end of the weekend will even further simplify the process.

Please think about stopping by if you are over on the east side of the harbor.

Yes they do have "winter water". I will stop by. If I remember correctly, we spoke last year and you were only there on weekdays.

Larry,
You have an excellent memory! I was here during the week last winter in my 36' Uniflite, which got us thinking about becoming full time liveaboards. We bought a 50 Chris Constellation this summer in Florida and brought it up in July (another LONG story).

I got another Consulting assignment here so we brought the boat down at the end of October - looks like I'll be here at least until mid February if not longer.

Let me know when you'll be here and we can plan a get together.
