On vacation this week and was in Montauk during this sad event . The boats tied up at the coast guard station . Pretty much everyone has a hard time with the version in the paper .... Anyone know anything more ?

Interesting that a couple of weeks ago the same thing happened to a fisherman but they found him.

Looks like Art's M/Y? I don't understand? It happened and I had no clue? Why do things like this happen? She should have been safe??
My wife isn't out of my site for 20 seconds before I crap let alone 20 minutes. When we are on the hook I know where she is every instant. And we don't anchor in 3' seas.
I'll offer him only this much. He's farking stoopidt to anchor a 45 in 3 foot seas. NO ONE is going to enjoy that.

They could have had a few drinks, sitting on the bow the husband could have been half a sleep, she says she is getting a sweatshirt, husband falls a sleep, then wakes up in a panic.

Seems like the different articles I've read have different versions of what happened. Originally Newsday said there were 2 couples onboard, now the NY Post is saying just the 2 people. Some versions said the woman went down below and the husband heard screams and a splash, now they are saying he didn't hear anything and couldn't find her.
They were actually staying at Montauk Marine Basin, the boat was docked not far from me Friday night. The version I heard from the people there is that the guy was asking about how he could catch some fish, so they told him troll around for some bluefish during the day and he'll catch something. They didn't head out till 7pm though, and anchored off the point in the rips to watch the meteor shower and possibly fish also. From what I heard there were fish on the boat so they actually caught something. Then she goes down below to get something, he hears a splash, and with the current and the boat anchored by time he can do anything he can't find her. We were fishing Sunday morning with the CG boats and helicopters searching, until the call came in from guys fishing on a center console that they found her body.
Walter has a point, if he was really looking to get rid of her I would think he would have gone someplace more remote. This time of year there's a lot of boats in that spot fishing at night and the coast guard is minutes away. Sad story whatever happened...

so another fishing guy anchored in the channel? all kidding aside, a friend of mine knew her and the husband and believes it was a legitimate tragic accident.
