In the market for a new boat, and thought I would ask in the forum where people see the longer term effects regularly...

How much should I pay attention to whether or not wood is used in a new boat. Considering a 30-33' cruiser/fisher. Most of the quality ones (Grady, Whaler, Pursuit being three I have looked at) are wood. One (Hydrasports) makes a big deal over no-wood and Kelvar reinforcing.

Is it an actual benefit? Either toward strength in use, or toward lasting longer?

Or are quality boats using wood generally built well enough that rot is a non-issue?
