Yamaha 130 hp 2 stroke bogging and stuttering

Collapsing fuel line somewhere? Maybe try running on a small auxiliary tank to rule out any tank issues?
If you haven't replaced all the fuel lines there's a good chance the ethanol has finally taken the toll on them. Auxiliary tank is the easiest way to eliminate fuel delivery issues.
Did you check your fuel pickup tube and the anti-siphon valve? Gunk in the tank may have broken loose while running around and clogged the screen on the pickup tube.

I think I'm going to drain all the fuel and replace all the fuel lines this weekend. It's the only thing that makes sense at this point..

If that doesn't work, it becomes a planter in my new garden.

😁

Check the pickup screen and anti-siphon before it goes in the garden. ;)

Another thought, remove the cowling then back it down the ramp to do some testing. Assuming it fails, start removing plug wires to help determine if a plug or coil is failing.

Well... old has drained, new plugs, new fuel line... hopefully I can hit a lake tomorrow and have better luck...

No update from Brian....probably stranded out on the lake.😁
Brian, I've reread this thread a couple of times and do not see where you took NC's & Pascal's advice about carb work. FWIW, I'm betting they were correct.

Yeah, I had the carbs checked by a local mechanic last year when he found the siphon valve problem...

When I finally get this solved, it's going to be something so small and stupid I'm going to be kicking myself!

I ended up doing a bunch of yard and garden work Sunday...including your favorite activity, cutting grass!

Haven't had a chance to fill up with fresh fuel and give her a go yet...

????? Wait, are you not still home alone? You shouldn't even need a scale to determine which task was more important!

Yes, the world traveler has left me all alone and to my own devices...it's a scary thing for me to be left unsupervised...

So...the saga continues and my sanity weakens...

Fuel tank drained completely and 15 gallons of fresh gas put it. Took the boat out on a local lake Saturday, ran great for about 5 minutes, then bogged. 🤪

Before I decided to pull all the plugs and let nature take it's course, we decided to idle around and fish for a while. Got a couple of nice bass into the boat, then decided to try again.

Boat revved right up and we tooled around the lake for a solid thirty minutes without a hiccup.

Then we stopped to fish again for a while, followed by another attempt to run which resulted in bogging. Would not advance past 2400-2800 RPM under load, but when put in neutral it would rev right up!

Please, gents, someone tell me what I'm overlooking here! This intermittent problem is making me insane!

To recap what I have tried thus far:
Fresh fuel filter/water separator
Spark plugs
Fuel pump
Thermostats
Every fuse I could find on the engine
Primer bulb
Water pump and housing
anti siphon valve replaced
Fuel tank drained and 15 gallons of fresh premium

I know you said your mechanic checked the carbs, but were they rebuilt? you have a intermittent problem so I wonder what "checked" means since it could have been "checked" when the problem was not evident. Hard to fix if it ain't broke. If not rebuilt, then rebuild or buy, at this point.

I may have to go that route, but logically if the cab was messed up would it be this intermittent of a problem? When I say we ran it for about 30 minutes, I mean it ran beautifully! And then the dreaded bog monster reappeared.

I'm thinking some kind of tiny crap that moves and blocks a jet....

A couple thoughts:
- Fuel tank vent hose may have something like a wasp nest in it. Can you easily blow out the hose?
- Is there a fuel filter on the motor which wasn't replaced?
- I thought you mentioned somewhere along the line that you replaced the fuel hoses. Yes? Ethanol eats up the old hoses.
- Then there's the possibility of an intermittent electrical problem. Coil pack or plug wire, stator, a ground wire loose or corroded.....

Thanks guys, the troubleshooting continues.

What display or indicators do you have on the dash? No hints there?

Maybe some hints in the manual starting page 98. Of course it includes a visit to your yamaha dealer :ROFLMAO: But I wonder if the "alert buzzer" or "indicator light" are not working. If not, that would be masking something. It could be the ECS or some loose wires leading to it. Look for loose or corroded connections. Do they operate when the key is turned on and go quiet when the engine starts?

This manual is for a 2019.

Some outboard info is required to get the exact manual;

FWIW, I'm sure you have already done this but. for grins & giggles I searched Yamaha. forums and such. I was surprixed at the number of their saltwater series motors that people were reporting bogging down. It seems almost all of the ones had a end result of the problem being carb related..... also noted that carb rebuilds required very detailed clening. HAVE FUN!
