Any one for a rendezvous on the Chesapeake in 2008??? Just a thought.
Sitting here in the ice I am ready for spring, it wont be long now. Anybody want to meet, I am dockeded on the potomac but will be on the bay all summer. I will see ya on the water. Cheers
 
Badsanta, Where on the Potomac? I'm near Colonial Beach so maybe a Potomac rendezvous? BTW, your home port is my home town.
 
I am on mattox creek also, but am hauled at plantation point at this time. I think it would be great to meet others in the area. The summer is to short. I am just trying to start some thinking and talking early. Do you think it would upset the locals if we filled up mattox creek for a weekend or maybe monrow bay? marina and bar would be closer?? Hopefully I will be back by April.
 
I'm in! Been waiting for something like this, from BE members in our neck of the woods. I'm in Colonial Beach.
 
I'm at Stepps. Boat name Somewhere on D-dock. I guess it depends on how many.
 
Squber, I know some folks over there. Trojan, Luhrs, Cruiser owners...I'm at the Yacht Center.

Hoping to keep this idea alive for the summer...
 
Where we had it last year was really nice in Stoney Creek (right off SYORK's house..thanks you two!). The former years they had it at Still Pond, which is also really nice. And depending on how late it is in the summer, the more north we go, the better (I don't like getting stung!).

Wait! Mike's building a house off Still Pond. He's got 2' of water near his property. I can make that!

Hey guys, if you get up north we have a house in Kentmore Park, on the Sassafras River. So if Mikee can't handle the crowd, we're more than happy to. I actually jet skied to the Still Pond raft up with my daughter and a friend, but they got tired and wanted to get back so I didn't stop. I know, I'm a wimp. This year we'll make it.
 
Squber, reel antsy and all others. Maybe something just on the potomac? Just a thought.
 
BadSanta, There should be a goodly number of RO's just on the Potomac. I's in. Depending on where people would come from there are a lot of choices from the original Tim's all the way down.
 
The closer you are to the main body of the Bay, the better for us "long-distance" guys. Of course, you're always entitled to declare it the "Mid-Chesapeake" rendezvous....

4roys - Where is your house? We are in and out of the Sassafras a dozen times each summer, and wind up in Lloyd Creek all the time.

Rich's house is in Kentmore, almost directly across from Ordinary Point on the south side. You can usually see folks swimming there at a small community beach. It's a nice community. We tried to buy a place there but by the time you hear about it they are sold, all word of mouth.
 
Isn't Kentmore where it seems as though everyone has an air strip in their back yard and hangers as garages...?
 
Not this Kentmore. Golf carts are the preferred mode of transportation.
 
Looking at our plans for the summer, anything below Annapolis isn't likely to work for us. That doesn't mean that there can't be more than one raftup per year, though...

Given the turnout we've had for the ast few years (6 to 8 boats), it's very important to have it in an area where there are virtually no wakes. Still Pond, SYork's house, and even $3.98 Beach on the Sassafras (across from Skipjack Cove) have all worked well. From the standpoint of the "northern" crowd, about all I can think of that we haven't tried are Whorton Creek (I've never even been in there), Fairlee Creek (always busy), Bush River, or some place off of Middle River, like Sue Creek.

Right now, we're open June 7/8 and 28/29; July 19/20; August 16/17; and September 6/7 and 13/14....
 
Worton's...eh...nice, but probably not for a raft up. Too shallow for some people and not really enough room to raft up outside of the channel. Plus a lack of a breeze on hot days. However, I'd recommend Worton Creek Marina to anybody wanting an affordable overnight stop (still under $2/ft) and a really nice meal at Harbour House Restaurant. Be warned, though, other than the pool (which is nice), there's not much else to do.

We'd be in for any of the other locations other than Fairlee (too busy for my tastes). Sassafras is always nice and the water's good. Still Pond is still our favorite "one hour away" destination. A bit south for us isn't a problem, but the jelly's can be, depending on when this is organized.
