2008 rendezvous

You can count me as a half also. We'll be there if I don't have to work that Saturday.

Bad news: Bliss is out due to a previous commitment. We are shaky, as we have an offer for a cruise with a number of friends. Chris - We'd love to hook up with you soemtime/somewhere; what are your plans as of now?

Yes C_spray, likewise. I still plan to head over as I have never been there before, and it looks like a nice cruise for me.

I just joined this thread. Is the rendevous on Swan Creek Next weekend 8/16? If so, we'll join in. We dock at Haven Harbour and can be out there in 5 min.

Great! I have a business trip out of town, and now will not be able to get there until Sat. morning.

Mark,

We'll arriving at Haven Harbor on Saturday afternoon as a guest on a friend's Silverton, cruising over from the Middle River to join the Sassafras River YC for the annual Crab Fest (we used to be members of the SRYC when we had a boat!). We need to spend some time with the YC folks that afternoon but if you are heading out to join the raft-up later that day I might be begging a ride.

Mike,
That would be fine. We need to be on the end because we have a dog that periodically will have to be walked. My boat is actually at the bulkhead beside the main office. Very easy to find there are only 4 boats there. We also have a trailer down the road which is where we usually sleep. When is the crab-feast? What time do you want to head to the raft-up? I'm flexible, so I'm sure we can work it out.

I will confirm for Saturday. We dont get down early enough on Friday to make it then.

Can bring needed supplies from town if anyone needs anything.

RockHall,

Not sure what our arrival schedule is as we will be at the mercy of our hosts. I believe we are departing their berth on the Middle River around 10:30. The Crab Fest begins about 1:00 or so and goes on all afternoon and, often, the party continues into the evening. I want to visit the raft-up (haven't seen BE folks for a while) but we also need to spend time with our hosts and the YC as we haven't seen any of them for a while as well. I've got C_Spray's cell number and he has mine so don't wait for me if I don't catch-up with you at HH before you want to head out. I can call C_Spray and work something out or possibly borrow a dink.

ok Mike,
We will probably head out the creek before you are done, but like I said, the dog will need to be walked probably twice. Late afternoon and before bed. The easiest place for me to do that is our slip. So maybe I can pick you up on one of those excursions. I'm looking forward to meeting some of you.

OK - We will most likely be stopping by on Saturday if anyone is going to be in Swan Creek. We are planning to spend Friday night in St. Michaels, and Saturday in Rock Hall, either at a marina or at the raftup, depending on the weather and our cruising companions. Cell phone is (610) 496-2703. Ask for Chuck or Dianne.

If it all works out, it looks to be 3 go-fasts, a cat, a 32' cruiser and you as near as I can tell. We're a silver 38' Formula, our friends are a white/yellow/blue 38' Donzi, and Hyperfishing is a 35' Fountain of unknown livery. Mixman's cat is pretty much all white, as is Meide's 32 Larson.

Anybody else????

I've got an old 1989 Sea Ray 220 Dancer. Green and White with green canvas and a barking dog. I havent figured out how to put my boat pic as an avatar. "Fresh Start"

I am in Houston right now but will be there around noon, perhaps later if my flight gets delayed again. Fountain?

Actually a 3o ft sonic gofast converted to fishboat. Hence, Hyperfishing! I look forward to the raftup and meeting everybody.

I've got a couple of things to do around here and we should be out by 12:30-1:00, if all goes as planned

We just wanted to say we had a blast with you guys this weekend. I'm really glad we were able to meet up. I hope we can stay in touch and get together again.

Yes, likewise! I just returned from the Boater Ed raft-up, err, rafts-up! Total of three different raft-ups in two different locations...Swan Creek and Fairlee Creek? near Jellyfish Joels?

One word for the weekend for me, new to Chesapeake boating....AWESOME!

A huge thank you to all those who participated, and those who served up super food, even if they were not originally part of the Boatered raft-up plans. The "Silverton sky lounge" of J and N was particularly memorable, as was the tricked out powercat of K and C, and the many impressive gofast friend boats of C and D.

MAJOR thanks to Mr. and Mrs. C-Spray, who, after leaving the first raft-up to spend the night at a marina, returned the next morning in their fantastic 38 foot Formula go-fast to get me and escort me out to Fairlee creek for a second raft-up. WAY above and beyond any reasonable expectation.

Heck, they even cruised at a mere 40 to 50 MPH so I could keep up, probably a pretty boring speed for them and their friends, similarly equipped with a lovely 38 foot Donzi.

Space and the late hour prevents me from detailing everything, but hopefully others who participated will fill in the blanks and post a few pictures. Thanks again to all for a wonderful weekend, it was terrific to meet you.

Note to C-Spray, I got home in about 1.5 hours, cruising 30 to 40 knots, and seas were much milder than I had expected. I hope all had similarly nice voyages home.

Janet and I accidentally came upon one of the raft-ups in Fairlee Creek. We couldn't go on the original day on Saturday. ....But, we were boating in the upper bay today (Sunday) and went into Fairlee Creek. .... And what did we see....it was the "Hyperfishing" boat. I said to Janet, "Hey, I've heard of that boat!". So we "crashed the party" for a short time, and met fellow ROs Chris (Hyperfishing) as well as Dianne & Chuck (C-Spray). Great to meet you all ! Janet says thanks for the jello shooter and the mango vodka. I was tempted to join in the "adult beverages", but had the return trip and the long drive back to northern VA ahead of me.

We might make it to Port Deposit for the races on Labor Day weekend.

Great to meet you all!

Glenn and Janet
