5260 First Look

Michael, styling is one thing, it's a personal preference issue. Functionality is another... small water tanks, no ventilation, blind spots, large openign in the hulls ?

Rommer, glad they did, that interior posted on the UK site was just awful...

i'm also wondering about handling and seaworthiness : tall and fairly top heavy, narrow at 15'3, and light... 14tons if the figures on the UK site are correct.

Here is a view of the cockpit, which we had not shot prior to visiting Bimini. As an additional clarification, the 5260 has an optional cool cockpit, with six air conditioning vents, running on a separate pump and compressor from the cabin unit.

The designer must have never been on a boat because those side windows are right at the point where fenders will be placed unless you are at floating docks.

whoever is posting there doesent take feedback since they continue to post oversize PIX

I really don't care for the exterior lines of the boat. Looks odd and bulky IMO. I like the lines of other Regal express models a lot better.

I'm mainly refering to the exterior lines BTW. Too bad Regal has strayed so far from their previous designs... But I guess if you own it, you don't have to look at it! LOL All you'd see is the cockpit and cabin which are pretty nice actually.

All pictures are 800 or less pixels wide. Try refreshing your browser pdecat. Regal was very responsive to the request to resize.

I will admit that the new 5260 is not my favorite Regal, in fact I'm waiting on a larger sedan bridge, that said IIRC production of this model is sold out well into next year. Seems the design works well for a fair number of boaters. She's not for everybody but neither is Pascal's Hatteras!

Lets keep the conversation civil please.

What will her production numbers be? When Carver came out with the Marquis series, they were intitally building 1 to 2 per month. They have improved on that, but a "sellout" of production could be as few as 10 to 12 boats

the new pix are still too large even with a new window. I dont see any uncivil posts???

Edit: the problem may be with the user name being so long.

If you cannot see a resolution of 800pix it is time to stop browsing on your cell phone. The above picture is 800x533.

I have been very critical for a while but visibility??? How could this be worse then on a pilot house boat, Pascal? If you are referring to the A-columns so a little moving the head to the left or right will take care of it, other then that it is 360 degrees.

I have the same window size on every web site and only these posts run over.

i think it's been pretty civil...

the cockpit layout is nice, these rear seats are different from teh typical bench/U... love the dinghy garage and aft sunpad, that's a nice feature, and sets the boat apart from other large express. Table is a little small though for a boat that size, minor detail.

how big is the AC ?

i'm just very skeptical about air con and lack of ventilation. down there, it takes 32k btu to cool my enclosed saloon, i can't imagine temps to be bearable with teh aft part all open and anything smaller than 40k btus. I guess it comes down to personal preference but when we're anchored out, i like natural fresh air and even in south florida summer, even just a 10kts breeze will be all you need to keep the upper level cool. but you need air to flow and it's not going to happen with these 3 little opening and the sunroof.

i would love to see pictures of the engine room... and see how accessible things are with the dinghy garage sitting on top.

the problem may be with the user name being so long it makes the left frame wider than usual.

The boat has two separate ACs plus the AC for the cockpit. Airflow is such a thing in Express, as you always still have the windwhiels keeping the breeze well above you sitting in the cockpit. Nothing that a few fans won't take care. We had 110 and 80% humidity this summer and the breeze did nothing for us in th cockpit we had 3 fans running. AC may have been nice. Then again maybe too hot for a cockpit AC. The engine room is very roomy because it only has IPS offere3d as of now. However, I still do not see any cupholders in the cockpit other then two on the helm. Also no cupboard, side table etc behind the saloon sofa to put stuff, such as your drinks, magazines, remote control etc.

Bruce, sorry but thats not going to change. It seems to be working fine for most every one else. I'm guessing you have your computers resolution set to 800 x 600, perfectly fine to do so but it will cause you to have to scroll when viewing some sites. The first pictures were over 1000 pixels wide and when asked she resized within minutes to the limits I requested.

Found the cupholders now on the new cockpit shot, at the bottom of the bench in the corner, they will last about a weekend before somebody steps on them. Pascal you can have a different cockpit layout with a bigger table. The numbers of aft sunpads on the 42s was something like 1 in 4 or 5, so i think most will opt for the cockpit with seating and table for plenty arrangement.

I just wanted to explain my "keep it civil" comment.

Please keep in mind that this forum is the Regal Owners Forum, a place setup where Regal Owners could get together and talk about our favorite manufacturer. It is not ATC or NBR. On the other hand everyone is welcome here but keep in mind that if I went into the Cruisers forum and said "thats one of the ugliest express boats I've ever seen" I would not be greeted with open arms. I have not edited nor have I been asked to edit any negative comments. It just seemed that the direction we were heading was not the best, thus my comment.

Thanks

rommer:
Since Regal will no doubt be posting frequently, it would be nice if it fit. I expect that if you put the user name on two or three lines the left frame would return to normal size. My laptop is a common size and the entire WWW automatically sizes to fit each individual screen setting. The exceptions are always on BE and usually because of a big PIX or long URL included in the post. There must be something unique about the BE forum SW that doesn’t automatically adjust size.
