56 Voyager...very disappointing

Antsy..

Look at the boat you own. Its a GREAT boat. Look at how the F32 and the F36 are built compared to some of the boats today.

Never said every boat prior to a 93 searay or carver was junk...

I was just browsing the forums..thought id throw my 2 cents in..whether you all like or not is a different story..arent we allowed to have an opinion?

thanks

Sure, but you expressed your opinions as fact with no support for those so called facts.

Bud, your first post on the Sea Ray forum was basically that...before it was edited.

Now you're homing in on your Opinions? Yes, you are entitled to your opinion but you clearly stated several times after comments you made, that they were facts. That'll rub people wrong very quickly...

Nuff said.

Antsy

Big Double D had to edit my original post.

All I want to do is talk to people that KNOW what they are talking about. You seem like you know a thing or two about boats. Im not looking for a new boater to chat with , Im looking for someone with many years on the water....

Enjoy the F32 GREAT boat. I had the F36 2 seasons ago and sold it. Biggest mistake I ever made

Well, which is it? FACT or OPINION. You will learn quickly around here that you can't get away with posting BS!

HOGAN.

Its a fact that Carvers are not well made. Today they are a glorified Bayliner and Meridian.

Not real sure where you are trying to go with this but Im getting real tired of dealing with you. Your just the typical know nothing long island boater

Bud,

Am I one of those boaters who do not know enough for you to talk to? Apparently so because you haven't answered my specific questions. Or is it that you can't answer my questions with any specificity?

SHEL:

A gelcoat should be able to hold up for many many years. Whether its waxed once a year or every other year. You can use your garrys satin wax or a nice 3M wax with a Carver, and the gelcoat will still dry out. Carvers need a lot of attention with their gelcoat. Its the same thing with many new boats today. They cut corners on gelcoats to help keep costs down. Many carver owners will disagree and say their boat shines like new even though its a few years old. A boat can still shine like new but at what cost? Compounding the heck out of a gelcoat every season isnt the greatest thing for a boat. Carvers tend to have light patchy oxidation within 2-3 years old. From there it goes down hill.

Yes. Some top heavy boats are well made. However, a Carver hull is VERY VERY thin. Its a very light hull with a heavy topside. That balance isnt all that great. For people who use a boat on a calm lake and whatnot, no boat is bad. Carver is out there to compete with ocean cruisers, such as Searay, Maxum, Cruisers, Mainship, Viking...

Carvers are not really a boaters boat. People buy them without knowing the past history of Carver. Carver took over Silverton and Silverton went down hill. Same thing, very light hull with a top heavy topside...

I know that I wouldnt buy a Carver. No marine mechanic will tell you to buy a Carver...A salesmen is a different story lol

"Carver is out there to compete with ocean cruisers, such as Searay, Maxum, Cruisers, Mainship, Viking..."

Sea Ray, Maxum, mainship... "ocean cruisers" ???

ROFL!!!

Take it from someone who's never been a fan of carvers (not my type of boat): cut the crap and useless generalization.

anyone who's been around boat for a while knows that any builders as good and well... not so good models and years and that you can never say... all xxxxx boats are bad.

Obviously, you are not too bright if you can't figure out where I'm going with this, and you can't figure out from my homport that I am NOT a long island boater.

I guess you just can't deal with a group of knowledgeable boaters who don't put up with a no-nothing who tries to pontificate and makes baseless stupid statements.

Hogan enough already.

You carry on like a two year old...ask me if I care where your home port is? Truth of the matter is i dont care. Its a forum, get over it and move on.

Would you like your change from the 2 cents?...
A piss pot without a handle is worth more than your 2 cents...

carver2557

you're just angry because you own a carver and you dont like someone saying bad things about your boats builder.

You are entitled to your opinion. I'd like to hear your vast information to arrive at this insane conclusion or you just like to hear yourself burp...Have another Bud bud.

All boats have there issues, but my issue is the way you came on so strong cutting Carvers up...
This one made me laugh "Today they are a glorified Bayliner and Meridian."...

I'd like to understand a couple of things you said Bud:

Carvers are not really a boaters boat. People buy them without knowing the past history of Carver.

I don't know much about Carver but I like the boats from what I've seen. What is a boater's boat?

I know that I wouldn't buy a Carver. No marine mechanic will tell you to buy a Carver...

Okay, so you wouldn't buy a Carver. There are thousands, maybe a million marine mechanics out there...are you really saying that NO marine mechanic would tell you to buy a Carver?? I find THAT...hard to believe.

Bud, lighten up on the Know It All stuff. Yeah, you have your opinions but getting folks riled up won't help you and it certainly won't help anyone who wants good and solid information.

There are a great deal many here on B/E that know far more than me and perhaps far more than you- They are happy to share whatever you wish to know or learn. But the very first posts you made were pretty low and bold, in my opinion... Maybe tomorrow, after a restful sleep, you should come back and play nice. Fair enough?- Not bashin' ya but just trying to help you see the light...

Budwiser6, has no conception of a boats intended design or use & is a novice boater. Just the same as I don't need a Steel Hull to do coastal cruising, there is no need for thicker hulls when the extra weight will drag down NMPG. Carvers are Plush Coastal Cruisers and Pleasure Yachts for entertaining in high style. Very well made for their intended purpose. They are not a Sport Fisherman's Yacht to be required to head out into very rough seas to compete in a tournment that will not be rescheduled for better weather conditions. As a cruiser, I can pick my conditions within reason so as not to spill one drop of refreshment on my plush carpets. BTW, I can go out in conditions that you'd need to stay ashore and tie yourself to the dock. But I'm not intensionally heading out to drag in a 1300lb Tuna. You are a Marine Engineer? No way you can be this stupid?

I think Andy may be correct, I was easy with him on the Searay forum, but after reading this I do say WTF.
