ancorage spots on the hudson river ?

It'll come, Jon - you can still participate here at HRCC, when you get the anchor you'll catch up quickly in NBR.

Just watch out for the LICC guys, Walter and Dave are a little.............odd

I dont know, looks like les found some extra steel to forge and anchor, I see one there....

Congrats Jon, put on your steel underwear and head over to NBR - it's a whole 'nuther world!

Thanks GOV, good to see it there. Hey Hogan , thanks for the invite , I don't keep the boat in the water though, it's only 24ft., easy to slide on and off the trailer , little less maintience too.Sometimes I miss the bigger boat though sometimes not, been no problems at stony point so far, so i'll probablly stay.

But were still neighbors and close enough for the beer to stay plenty cold.......

Hey HOAG, might need your help, seems like my pm works OK ( sent and recieved one for a test myself ) but still won't allow me access to the sucriber only section for some reason ? thanks for any help you can give bud. GLAD TO HEAR YOUR IN THE WATER ! if all goes right i'm giong up to haul mine down latter on this week ... Jon

West 79th street boat basin has as advertised transient moorings for 15 bucks per day & $90.00 per week with 25 available, this seemed like a good no great deal for a safe spot to hang out for a night and watch the city go by from the water to me. I am thinking of checking it out for a overnight in the near future.
Has anyone ever done it or have any info. about it ?
thanks Jon

Have heard (cannot remember from whom) that their docks are not in the greatest condition and they are not that well protected from wakes and waves. I believe it is owned by the New York State Parks System. It's also up a little far from the real action. But, if it's a mooring you're looking for I don't know if there are any further south in the harbor area.

Thanks John,
I was mostly looking for a mooring to just hang out and fire up the grill check out the lights and watch people walk up & down the path for a night , not going ashore.

I know the area like the back of my hand & never had any luck on the jersy side with only a view of hulls or transoms , I found surfside nice but not much of a view of the city , so 79th is just an idea , I like a few barge rollers during the night so the wakes don't really bother me seems hardly anyone boats at night anymore, I miss seeing the reds & greens on an evening cruise Im probably odd to the fact but, I really enjoy being out there cruising after dark and do so quite often + its usually flat as a pancake too late at night. thanks again for the help in my never ending search for anchorages & moorings, let you guys what I think after I check it out .... Jon
