It's time for us to be in the Bahamas again for Winter. I have to say, they took some heat from Sandy, but it really doesn't compare to some of the carnage we've heard about.
Anyway, things are open here and they are all working through the issues. West End was happy to have us and customs was ready for us on a Sunday. Yeah, fuel is expensive. We paid 750 bucks to fill Freedom today.
But from what we have seen so far, Elbow Cay and Green Turtle came through Sandy well enough. Yes some places have some water to clean up after, but in spite of the high water at the Green Turtle Club, they had power and water at the dock! It turns out they installed some new power towers that are modular. When the weather threatens, they can remove them and cap the bases! After the storm they re install the towers and move on.
The Hope Town Marin looks great and the progress is incredible here. Good food and docking with a shuttle over to Hope Town proper.
