After delivering the college students this weekend, my wife and I will be cruising to Block Island (Boat Basin) from 8/27 to 8/31 and then at Montauk Yacht Club for Labor Day weekend.

If anyone is out there during that time, please fee free to stop by for a cold one.

Mark, I would love to go. Please let us know what you think of the boat basin. After our last Champlin stay in July, when we go back to BI, we would most likely change marinas or take a mooring.

Have fun Mark, I wish I could have made another trip out there this year but it didn't fit in the schedule.

John

Thanks.

I'll post what we think of the Boat Basin when we get back. We've about had our fill of Champlin's and without kids there's no reason to put ourselves through it anymore, especially if we are not traveling with other boats we know (to raft to).

This will be our first time at the Boat Basin but dock mates have been going for some time and recommend it.

Hey Mark
The Unbroken Chain will be following you. We are planning to hit Greenport on the 28th and over to Block on the 29-09/01 and onto MYC 2-4. My crew is bouncing off the walls in anticipation and raring to go.
I think I'm going to need that cold one.
Thanks

Great. We are also really looking forward to it. Where are you staying at Block?

BTW, I was in your neck of the woods last week. I brought the boat into Davison's for service on my way back from Atlantic City (nothing major - trim tab leak, zincs, packing glands). We took it back to Glen Cove this past Saturday.

Staying at Champlains. Yea I know the rafting...blah,blah. But the truth is that my kids love it there and I have never been denied a back into floater spot so we keep heading back. I will probably bring my dink so if you would like to meet up, lmk

We'll have the dink as well so will be on the lookout for you.

we just got back from champlins. It was alittle wild but we had a great time! We try and go every year... Kids love it as well... A good food spot is the national hotel in town. Good eats!!!

Enjoy the trip and be safe

Rob

Love the National!
Between the views and the views definately a winner. Glad to hear you had fun rob, perhaps our paths will cross before the end of the season.

We got buried on many occasions due to the mudslides!!!! The bananna ones seem to be the most popular...

OK so tanking up on mudslides is a must on Block. :)

But as for tanking up the boat, anyone have any info on fuel prices on Block vs. Montauk? Last year it didn't seem like a big difference, but in the past it was much more expensive on Block.

Thanks.

I only saw the prices at Champlins, which by the way was a circus of boaters jockeying to get in to the gas dock. Not sure about the boat basin. But IMO, Starr Is at Montauk would be your best bet and if I recall a bit cheaper.

About Mudslides, yes a must at Block, they go down like a milk shake at about 5,000 calories with a major kick that comes on slow and easy then Bang.

I would do maybe one or two then switch back to my white lightning, a 4 or 5 finger vodka on ice with a splash of lemon lime club soda.

I keep the muslide mix in the fridge and a blender on hand for those times when I am not at Block so I can make my own.

Not a bad substitute.

Mark,
Diesel was 3.45 and gas was over 4 bucks. The diesel price was inline with everywhere else.

You may want to check out the price od fuel on the CT side, I picked up fuel for 3.08 in Norwalk a couple of weeks ago

It's 3.19 at my dock so I may round trip it. I know it was 3.07 in Milford last week. I'll see how it goes.

On second thought, that might be a little close so I'll probably pick up some somewhere.

Thanks
