Yo,All Boaters and BE Members:

Come by Boat,Plane,Train,Car,Truck Walk,Crawl,Stagger...
Looking to get a BoaterEd Getogether organized in the Northern area of BoaterEd...
Looking for suggested Area's, Time of Year or any other suggestions...Lets get something going for this area of BoaterEd..There are lots of Members out there that could make such an outing...Lets see who is on the other end of the keyboard...
My suggestion would be to have something around the East end of Lake Ontario, or the West end of the St. Lawrence to make it easy accessible for more ROs...
If we had something at a Marina,it would not restrict only the Boaters from coming, but would open it up for others that may not be able to come by boat...
A getogether at a Marina followed by a nice cruise of the islands would make for a good day or 2...
If some cant make it by boat, I'm sure we can accommodate them to have a cruise of the islands...I know I have room on my boat for some...
Any Ideas, or suggestions...

EDIT:...Rocket Ship! also included in the transportation means...
Is ya happy now Rick?...

I'll be down in the St. Lawrence by boat somewhere within the last two weeks of Aug. I have room on my boat for a cruise as well. Any other time and the Wife and I can probably be there by car.

Shel

I will be in the 1000 Islands first week of August, probably Gan is as far east as we will be this year.

August Trips for me
2nd thru 10th Rideau
28th thru 31st Kingston for Blues Fest

Open to any other dates for get together.

If something is arranged for a later date than the one you are going to be in the area, are you available to drive by car?...

Not really Wayne, I work a six day week normally with fridays off.
Don't worry about it too much, just take lots of pictures.

Festival of the Islands in Gan is Aug 8th-16th. That may be a nice time, but it will be crowded.

Really!? I never heard that. I admit the Wife and I had a hard time finding any info on it, but we did find one site that said 2009 and 2010 festival was going to be Aug 8th-16th both years. I'm not sure I can find that site I seen that on very quickly. That would explain why all the Gan sites had nothing about it in their events calendars. Oh well...

That's not to say that we still couldn't have something Aug the 15th around Gan...I'm going to be in Brockville on Aug 7 and 8th, for the Poker Run and ribfest, but good to go the next weekend on the 15th...Gan is right in the heart of the Islands and the Municipal Marina there is a good one...
Looks like Ray is also good on the 15th...

The 15th would work for me. We would probably need to lock in reservations soon because of the festival.

How are we going to do these reservations?...We should try to get docking next to each other...Are we going to the Municipal Marina?...Whats the game plan or agenda?...

I believe the festival was cancelled this year, but it may still be busy...

It's going to be good to meetup with other ROs from BoaterEd..

Looks like 3 boats so far...Me...Shel and Riverfever30...

Hope more will join in before the date...If not, it can only get bigger for next year...

Municipal Marina is fine with me. Maybe we should try to call on the same day and explain what we would like to do. Inform them of the other boat names and that they will be getting calls that day and to be on the lookout for these boat names. I'm Riverfever.

My Engine parts all came in today and I'll probably be up and running in a week or so. (Can't pick them up from UPS because they haven't had a "Failed" Delivery Attempt yet which won't be until Monday).
To bad you guys are planning all this in Canada.

I'm not against going to the other side of the river...Anyone else have any thoughts on the US side?...I'll be hitting the US side to fuel-up before heading home anyways...

The Municipal dock in Clayton is 1st come 1st serve. 1.25/ft incl hydro. Holds about 12-15 boats.
7-8 slips on the inside are reasonably protected. Outside spots can be wavy with strong west and northwest
winds. Good view of River and everything in walking distance.

Alex Bay 2.50/ft plus power rb2@gr5t Riveredge Resort. Village docks do not have power. The other marinas are not convenient to town.

Don't like the idea of Clayton with a first come first serve basis...If we get there and all docks are taken, we are beat...

From what I can see it's either Gan or Alex Bay Riveredge Resort
Riveredge resort is very pricy...for a boat my size I'm looking at $82.50/night for dockage....I vote for Gan, but will go with the majority...
Gan rates are $1.40/foot hydro included...
Anyone wishing to drive by car, there are lots of hotels and Inns in the area...
What do you recommend?...

Just because Tang can't come to Canada, doesn't mean that he couldn't do a cruise with us during the day...

Anyone else have any Ideas or recommendations

Unless anything changes, I am going to be making a reservation this Saturday (July 11/09) for two nights at the Gan Municipal Marina...The two nights will be August 14th and 15th...I expect to arrive in Gan on the 14th at approx 6pm...and leave on the 16th...I don't want to take the chance of not getting a dock that weekend, so that is why I want to book now...
If anyone wants to join in on a cruise or raft-up for the day, but wants to stay on the American side, we can make arrangements to hook-up at a predetermined spot on the river, or pick-up anyone that wants to come by car but stay on the US side...
Hope to see lots of ROs that weekend...
Lets try and decide who willl be staying at Gan this week, so as Ray said, we can let the Marina know..

I'll be making reservations for Gan for the 14th and 15th of August today or Tuesday.
