BoaterEd Northern Chapter Getogether.(pics added)

Cruise sounds good...Probably best to decide where once we know who is coming for sure.
If we need to pick up and drop off Tanq in A-Bay then we would need to take that into
consideration.

I hope Bcat and KnottyBuoyz can make it.

Are these "Strip Clubs" something I should investigate and report on before the event?

Will you know closer to the date if you will or will not be making it?...

Where are you in this Tang???....

Car should be ready unless somethin' else messes up.

I think if the boys went to the strip club Ray we might not have boats & cars to come back to! ::Shrug:: *lol*

Hi everyone. I do some lurking and a little posting on here. I spend half the season in Clayton, and I will be there until middle to end of August. My boat is "Quartz in Session II" with home port of Sackets Harbor, NY. Tiara 3100 w/ navy canvas. Get together sounds good. I may be in Gan that weekend due to prior plans. Maybe I'll see you!

Okay.....Got the heads and they're on....Marina owner's wife took a nasty fall getting onto (or off of) their houseboat the other day and wound up in the hospital so he ran out of time before he got the Intake bolted on. I'm going to do the rest myself and was planning on it this weekend but now one of our traveling companions passed away suddenly yesterday ....

The Admital is taking it pretty hard but August 15th is far enough away yet that I see no reason that I won't have the Boat ready. If it still isn't ready by then maybe sinking it in Lake Ontario will be a good option. (Just KIDDING)

Anyways....I'll keep you posted.

Dana:
Sounds good...Hope we can all hook-up together...Looking forward to meeting new ROs...Keep us posted...

Tang:
Keep us posted...Just wondering if we have to pick you up by boat, and we dont want to actually land in the USA...How far can you jump?...

I'm wondering now with the number of ROs attending, which is excellent...the more the better...if we should abort the supper BBQ at the dock and hit a local restuarant?...
What do the rest think?...

Great to see more people planning to attend.
We could take a poll on the Monday or Tuesday before the 15th as to dinner plans.
We'll also have a fairly good perspective on the weather forcast, although this year has been a constant
contradiction.

Ray

It appears that Gan has been chosen as Home Base, so my way of thinking would put the BBQ/Restuarant in Gan...

Maybe next year we can do a get together on the US side. Looking forward to the 15th.

I'm in for a US side get-together next year...Should plan that one early...

Maybe some of the Dock Mollys from some of the southern areas like New York will join in next year so we can show them what boating is about......

I hope that Tang will still join in for the Cruise, if the Canada thing is an issue...

I was just thinking about that tonight as a matter of fact.
We just got home from the Marina....spent the day there today

THE BOAT IS RUNNING...!!!!!!!!!!!!

A few odds and ends to take care of tomorrow and ALOT of cleaning up to do...(Grease Grease Grease EVERYWHERE)..lol....

Maybe you guys would have an answer for this one....

Okay....I'm barred from Canada....Can't drive my car across the Border or be in a car driven across the Border...(That probably doesn't surprise some of you folks here)...lol....
However......I would only need to stop and "Check In" with Customs if I were "LANDING" there at a Marina?????? (or something similar)....I don't see where I'm barred from traveling in Canadian Waters.....After all...with all the discussions in the past few years regarding taxing Marinas etc. for the land beneath the water at their docks etc........Does Canada really OWN the Waters?

When you arrive at the marina and secure the boat, the Captain then goes to the marina phone and calls into customs. All passengers remain on the boat till you clear customs. They typically ask for your name and birth date, and the names and birth dates of passengers.
Then the usual questions regarding what you are bringing in to the country {firearms, booze tobacco etc.).
You will then get a reporting number to display on your vessel. Also if you are travelling with pets make sure you have the docs with updated shots.
Many times when you check in this way the first time they may stop by the boat. I've been visited only
twice since 1985.

When you return to the states make sure you have a passport or one of those new enhanced ID's accepted by
Immigration.

Basically yup. You can transit Cdn waters and as long as you don't land you're ok. Same goes for us transiting the US side. If you intend to land the same rules apply as a land border crossing.

There's plenty of US boaters land in Canada, especially along the St. Lawrence that never check in. They come for the cheap gas, poutine and chinese food then go home.

OK KnottyBuoyz where is the "cheap" Canadian gas?

Well ya have to figure in the exchange factor which is I think about 12-14 cents on the dollar. I filled up the Jeep the other day in Ogdensburg and with the exchange it ended up cheaper at home. Duh! Buying gas dockside at any of the marina's here is a turkey shoot as to price.

Gas is by far...more expensive in the Gan area...$1.09/Litre at our Marina now...Last week it was #.99/Litre...I'm going to Gan by car today, so I'll check the pump price there today...

Canada does own the Water, but Rick has hit bottom so many times. he has the squatters rights to the land below the water...

I paid $0.87/litre on the US side last week at the marina. Included a free pumpout.
