Capt. Bill 1's Project Boat

You're welcome Scott. If there is anything in particular you, or anybody, would like to see a picture of, or have description of, just let me know.

The cabinet maker had a slight fit when he heard I posted a picture of that cabinet door with the grill in it that had unfinished edges on it. He wants me to let everyone know that the edges are now stained to match on all of the doors that he had to mount grills in.

I'll try to post a picture of the beautiful cherry door he had to make with the curved cherry mounting frame to make up for it. :-)

Proper labeling is just one of the many projects. I've doubled up for quick back up on all the important pumps. Black water pump out, air con raw water and the fresh water pumps. All I have to do is change a valve over and throw a switch and the back up pump is on line. Then I can deal with the faulty pump at my leisure. I also have the luxury of having two 1200 gal/day water makers.

New exhaust piping. The wiring will be moved and the pipe will be wrapped with heat shield before the walls go back up.

Syrens WiFi system. I've installed this system on other boats and been able to pick up WiFi signals from 10 miles plus.

No, it picks up WiFi networks you can connect to either free or via payed access so you can get on the internet.

This model of Syrens box also acts as a wireless access point. There will be at least one other WAP installed on the Syrens network so the boat should be fully covered for wireless internet connectivity. If all goes well GPS data will be available on the wireless network as well. That way I can run a charting/plotter program such as Nobeltec on a computer without having to be hard wired to a GPS.

One of the many projects is to replace all the Velcro on all of the overhead panels.

We were able to tie the new alarm senders for things like the gensets, eng. room fire bottles discharge, open hatch/doors, water makers, etc. into the boats central alarm system.

This is an example of the custom wood work being done by the cabinet maker. It's an air return grill that he had to adapt to fit a curved wall.

Great Pics. Looks like you were backstage?

The custom woodworking is beautiful.

"Looks like you were backstage?"

Yes, a friend of mine tours with the band. He got us in to the show, the hospitality tent and back stage. The band tours with a hospitality tent with a bar and bartenders. Hence the Sunday recovery period.

But back to work.

Test fitting the new teak steps.

Great looking work. amazing how much needs to be done on that boat. how old is it?? Was it neglected or just poorly done originally.

No engine or genny work though just cosmetic??

The boat is built like a tank. But some of the systems installations were so, so. And they ran it and the crew into the ground doing 20-25 weeks of charter a year for the last 5 years or so. So it was time for a rehap. Plus, as with any project like this, thinks tend to snowball as you pull things apart and find other work that should/could be done while you have this or that a part or moved.

On the engines, they both will get new raw and fresh water pumps, have there cooling plates cleaned and get all new injectors. The port eng. needs just one(crossing my fingers here)new turbo. The stbd gets 4 rebuilt cylinders.

Both the 30Kw gensets are being replaced. The port due to failure of it's PTO which broke the crank. It's being replaced with a 40Kw to handle load for night use. The stbd, while relatively low hours (2200 and new 2 years ago or so) is being replaced with a 50Kw to handle, on it's own, all of the high day time loads. Like hospitality, washing/drying, high aircon usage, etc..

The new genset exhaust pipes wrapped. And Don our lead wrapper.

The new Livos (http://livostech.com/) demisting louvers and one of 4 new engine room fans for the engine room air intakes.

Fan controller. The fans can be set manually or to come on based on a preset temp.. They also can be set to blow in or out in any combination. Not much to look at on the outside. More going on inside the box.

Main engine sea strainer and seacock. The water bottle gives you an idea of there over all size.

I really like the idea of ER fans and wish I could figure out to to add some.

This thread|topic is just awesome. Thanks so much for posting. I'm enjoying living vicariously through this (there's less dust and expense that way!).

Any particular reason for going with Livos instead of DeltaT ? A system like this is on my longer term wish list.

Hey George,

I talked with Delta T and they had spec it out already for the previous owner. But they were hard to get a hold of on the phone. And even after they came down and looked at the boat again for me I never heard back from them. So I went with Livos. Which was started by Mike (can't recall his last) the ex-head designer for Delta T and a very nice and accommodating guy. Livos and Delta T seem to use the same equipment. We had some fitment issues due to miss communications and misunderstandings on both sides. But through it all Mike never complained and worked very hard to make us happy. I highly recommend him.

I'll post some updates and pics in a day or two. We go in the yard (LMC) on Monday, under tow. So it will be a very relaxing trip for me. :-)
