I have 300 gallons of their gas in my tanks right now
We came in and didn't see any dolphins, went for a ride to Sandy Hook on Jim's CC yesterday and didn't see any dolphins, went out fishing in the Shrewsbury today and didn't see any dolphins.
We are heading to the Channel Club August 1st for the first time. Based upon what I have read here the last few years I suggested it as a destination. Is there anything to be aware of heading up the river to them. From the best estimate we have the group should make it when the tide is in the mid range, but I found it odd that they included a tide table with our reservation. Is low water an issue getting there? Keep in mind we are from the famous SPBC known for low water. Any other obstructions? Thanks....
The tide runs strong through SeaBright and depending on your clearance you might need an opening right where the tide is strong. Nothing to serious but it can be tricky if you pack up right at the bridge and the bridge operator will wait for you all to close in to prevent traffic delays.
Once past the bridge follow the channel and you should be fine. It meanders around. I use the East entrance hugging the ocean barrier all the way in. Some might go around all the islands and come in from the west but I have only seen smaller craft use that approach.
Have a great time!
It's no wake all the way up the river, so it takes about an hour from the entrance. Gas at the Channel club was about 40 cents per gallon cheaper than at any of the stations along the river. Just follow the buoys and stay in the channel and you'll be fine.
They have gas grills you can use.
The barmaid at Sallee Tees makes an AWESOME margarita! Food there is pretty good and reasonably priced.
Thanks Dan. We are all in Express style boats in the 30 - 35 foot range. How much clearence does the bridge offer before you need to request an opening?
That sounds right. We are a motor yacht and pull almost 18 feet. My data says the bridge is 20 feet but for one reason or another (tide) the numbers on the indicators say we should have an opening.
I made it through with our 330 sport bridge, we need 13' (I think). Also, three boats from my marina are going down on August 01 as well. I'll be sure to keep an eye out for you guys!
Rob, if you do we will have our 5 year old with us. I know in some prior threads you were concerned that there were no kids around for your family when you are boating. This way you know at least one will be at the Channel Club, and a few others if Walshie makes the trip.
Hey Walshie, Sea you guys down there. We're
planning on heading down this coming Saturday The weather will help make my decision though. Please update me on the weather Friday afternoon. Thanx
