Container Ship hits Bay Bridge

The oil companies are not at fault for the spill and they should be congratulated for supporting environmental clean-up efforts.

Deep pockets? If a kid from a poor household across the street breaks my neighbor's window should I be sued to fix the window because I have "deeper pockets?"

We may not like our dependence on oil and the environmental damage caused by oil pollution, but the oil companies never held a gun to our heads to buy the cars and the fossil fueled electrical power that we chose to use. Blaming solves little, choosing better alternatives will make a difference.

You may also have noticed that there's no criticism of the oil companies. That's because(as my brother says) Bird Rescue sold out to the oil companies. It was once an all volunteer venture depending totally on donations. Now they're fully funded with paid staff and many rescue centers...paid by the oil companies

You are aware that was a container ship, and not an oil tanker?
