Season launch day weather looks iffy...

Tuesday: A chance of rain. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 60. Chance of precipitation is 50%.

Tuesday Night: A chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 37. Chance of precipitation is 40%.

Wednesday: Sunny, with a high near 54.

Nice and warm but rain, may have to take a mental health day on Weds. instead. Anybody want to go on a boat ride?
 
Thanks to some help from a friend, We are all painted, polished and ready to splash tomorrw AM.
 
Got up to the marina today with the kids, bought them lunch and put them to work. Finished bottom scraping, hull is polished - ready for splash. Now if we can just get Butch's boat out of the way, we'll be boating!
 
I saw Butch's boat in the slings by the launch pit Saturday. He's not kidding...there is like no clearance unless the boat floats nice and high in the water. Now, all you guys need is some water.
 
Good luck down there. As it stands up here, they did get the docks in. But we were the only ones working on the boat today. Unreal. It was beautiful today and no one was around. Ya'd think we were at the north pole or something.
 
Butch, do you really NEED rub rails???? You're holding every one up! ;)
 
Dan, I know what you mean, I was the only one working on a boat at our marina today.
 
If boating season starts tomorrow then why is the "S" word still in the weather forecast????? 50% chance of **** on Friday! :(
 
John, I just took my cover off last weekend, you know that it snows one more time after that happens. Let it snow and lets get it over with.

I've got to concentrate on getting us warm and sunny weekends - this year I'm gonna try to keep the wind at a minimum, as well.

JohnH - I was down at the marina on Sunday and saw your boat in. WTF happened to the docks though? Looks like the movie The Birds was filmed there. The marina needs to clean that up fast before more boats get in. That has to be a health hazard.
 
You're not kidding, they are a mess. I would have hosed some of it away, but there is no water on the docks yet. Last year the marina did have someone cleaning the fingers and docks. It is disgusting and I agree, could be a health hazard. Maybe I'll email the marina right now and tell them.

Here's what I sent...

My boat is launched (Green 21), but the docks are a terrible mess with seagull crap, bones, and other unidentifiable stuff all over the fingers and dock. It's really disgusting to walk to my boat. I would have hosed some of it down on Saturday but the water is not on yet. This stuff has to be cleaned off because it is a health hazard to say nothing of being unsightly.

They should get someone on it by mid-June when school let's out. Until then we don't have any dock boys, you a being very unreasonable to expect clean docks or rest rooms for that matter.
 
Hey Pete - You are giving way too much credit there. Try August and what is a clean rest room at the marina look like? Did you get in the water today?

Im sure it will read something like " Dear sir, we have recieved your money for your slip and as you know there is a no refund policy. It was nice knowing you! Thanks, the management"

Then to you can hope it pours over the next few days...
 
Well, I just received a call at work from the Rear Commodore....the basin is open and we can all put our boats in. However, there's no electric or water...guess who's responsible for electric and water....ruh roh!

Having all these healthy retired guys really put a dent in getting the marina ready early!! I promised to have water and electric by end of day Sunday.
 
I really don't expect a reply. As more boats go in I'm sure the seagulls and other critters will move off. They are never really a problem once everyone is in. I'll be up again tomorrow to work on my battery charger/fault light problem. I'm sure the docks will look the same.
 
Hear ya on that one, some of thoes geese dumps can be as bad as steppin in dog doo . Hope they get it cleaned up for you. Guess we just gotta kick are shoes off before boarding .
