Anyone know where and when can one see fireworks shows in the Croton, Haverstraw area around the July 4th weekend? Thanks.

Haverstraw June 21
Bear Moutain...June 27
Haverstraw ...July 3
Peekskill ... July 4

Hey Dan, or Pete, will the Kingston display be Sunday, June 29th? And can they be seen from the river or do we have to come up the creek at least to Steel House or the town dock? TIA.....G

I had called the Hudson Maritime Museum and they said the fireworks would be on the 29th. The woman at the museum said they'd be shooting off the bridge again this year.

Geo
I have never watched from the river so I can't say for sure. But if you are at the Kgn town dock or the RYB you are in for a great show.
Many boats anchor in the creek, and for the last several years the amount of boats anchored has been low. But past performance is not indication of future results as they say. I'd say the view from the Steel House or Rosita's would be very good although the Town dock (if you can still get in) is where you want to be.

Dan, we we're thinking of comming up that weekend and staying over on the 29th anyway. Perhaps this will solidify the deal with the admiral. Friday the 27th is our wedding anniversary and the last day of school. Needless to say, I'd like a nice three day weekend of boating!! I was thinking we could sleep on the boat Friday and bee at RYB by noon Saturday....no firm plans yet. Do you know if RYB sells out for fireworks weekend?

Were thinking of heading up & checking it out , but can't say for sure yet cause the 29 is a sun. & may have to work on mon. thats a long cruise back in the dark on a workday for me.( trying to schedule a 3 day weekend )
Seems like it must look really cool if they launch em off the bridge like it would be right over your head sorta.
Best whishes Jon

Chris I can't say for sure, but I know that it has packed up that weekend with boats rafted up behind F-dock. Generally speaking the fuel dock and it's fingers are full. If you are thinking of coming I'd suggest a reservation. And plan on staying Sunday night into Monday since the fireworks are Sunday night.
Jon without a doubt if you are on the down stream side of the town dock by the restaurant you will have the best seat.

We are still trying to see if we can go up there but its still 35/65 that we are.

We are staying at RYB with 5 other boats that have reservations already.

Hey Dan, i should know by thurs.-fri. if we can attend , if so, will try to res. at RYB ( like it there) .

Mabey will catch with, or cruise within an earshot on the raido of Walshie if he can make it also ( happy anniversary !) keep you guys posted ... be nice to see you guys.
Jon

Reservation made for the 28th and 29th. Hope to be there by 12-2pm on the 28th!!
See y'all then!!

Sounds good folks. Stop by and have a beer, wine or soda, what ever works! We will have some company during the day but don't let that turn you away. Wait. Maybe this is a good excuse to take a break for a while?
Anyway, I saw a member of the R.Y.B. staff today and they are quite full according to what he said. So if you don't have a reservation and want to stay here, grab one quick!

If the weather holds out for the next coupple days i'm gonna bust my butt to finish the job i'm at hopefully by sat.
Now i'm worried about geeting a slip for the weekend, did you just mean the big boats Dan? ( i hope ) I can usually squeeze in oppsite side of your dock near the poles no one ever wants that spot near the gas dock, or better yet we can just stick my boat on the dingy davit of that beautiful ship of yours (LOL) :)

It ain't that lift worthy! But good luck and be safe on the job.

Dan, we won't be leaving White's until 7 Sunday night, so we'll essentially be late to the party. Once I get to Steel House I will see how much further upstream I can go - will you have a radio on?

While fireworks in NYC may be prettier, they don't have the reverberation off the mountains so don't seem nearly as loud...I live for this stuff!

I agree George, nothing like feeling the fireworks as well as seeing them....Thats why we like bowlines so much. We are right under them when they go off. We missed you at the poker run....

Geo I usually don't leave the radio on since I don't pay much attention to it, and being tied up at the dock it would p1ss people off since I have to leave it loud enough for my ears. [:-hot]

Sent you a PM

Almost got the day in ...the rain isn't helping me out for this weekend but still gonna try for sat. Walshie are you headed north or south for the creek

I head north from Croton...leaving Saturday morning, I'll attempt an 8am start, the wife and kids will protest, we'll argue and be underway by 10-11am with me all hot and bothered.

Chris, I think they do that just for spite. Schedule your departure two hours before you really want to leave and maybe...just maybe, you'll get going close to the time you intended. I fight the same battle with my wife and daughter all the time and usually lose. Wait until your daughters are teenagers and you try to get out on time...you can wash the car, mow the lawn, take a nap, or all three before they're ready.
