When I was a kid, I went ice fishing with my Dad. Cut the holes in the ice and set the lines. It was cold, but it didn't bother me.
Wait until you end up in the middle of a tournament - 50 boats ripping away from the start as if the fish know they are coming. I've never gotten into it, but for many fishing is addictive. A work friend is into it - he is out the door at the break of dawn about every weekend - big ass truck, crazy fast bass boat, $1000s in other gear -- he loves it. A couple of the kids that work the docks at my marina are on their college fishing teams - big stuff. Everyone is entitled to use the water, but personally I would rather share the lake with a bunch of bass fisherman than wake boats!
As Jeff Foxworthy said "If you've ever been too drunk to fish, you might be a redneck!" just saying.
Then today this guy flew thru the fairway 15’ from my boat… no idea what this thing is… not an outboard as the prop sticks out on an extended shaft… loud as hell. View attachment 3577

I don't know if there is a specific name for them - outboard motor fashioned like a straight shaft weed whacker, lets you run through very shallow water and swamp areas full of stumps and such. Home made, basically an aircooled lawn mower engine you would buy at Harbor Freight.
