Free slips for 35' plus

The reason they are advertising for 35' and up only is that they have no problems filling the slips that are under 35'. Prices get pretty steep at the higher lengths (I pay $6700 and there is a lot open at that price), and that is why they have so many open. The idea is that if you come to Mears and use the amenities etc. you will want to stay...

Are these slips part of that gubermint run program "Boating for the Braindead?"

They can't fill the larger slips tells me they are overpriced to begin with. Even if it is a down economy cause, one would rationally think if we want to put more boats in here, we need to restructure our business plan. I don't make a lot of money, so $6.7 Large for a few months in the water is WAY out of my league. Maybe, based on the fact the slips are empty, I am not alone.

I have been to Mears twice. It's just not all that to me....then again it may just be me.

I saw that Wes, but Bay Creek isn't discriminating. That offer is open to everybody. Although the wording I saw looked like it was "stay 5, get 25 for free" and wasn't limited to the same month. That's a pretty place they have there, but not a great location and not much to do for non-golfers.

Good point, Kurt. I mentioned to my wife what Mears was doing and she was all for us taking our boat over there...until she realized that we only have a tiny 28 footer. I did con Bill into doing some small midweek specials to try and drum up some business...we'll see how that goes.

See you tomorrow.

I actually feel sorry for many of the marinas around me. Our marina is great but it is a bit out of the way. Dave (CurrentSea) our sticks are back they even have day marks on them. The guys are just not coming down this year many of our regulars have their boats in the water but we almost never see them. Our good slip neighbor had to move his boat after he lost his job with Giles and Ransom. He got another job at a marina in Nessaminy PA. George and Lorraine were great folks and my wife and I miss them. But you have to do what you have to do. Kurt you have a great boat and the set-up is really nice. I sure wish I got 1/4 of your NMPG! Lets face it Boating is 100 percent discretioney spending and there isn't a whole lot of that going around. This is no ordinary recession either. I still would like to take a trip to the Chesapeake but I am busy with work. Our company isn't making what it used to but we are still working and profitable.

Hell my boat is only 27, do you think they will let be bolt on a 8' plank to my bow pulpit and say it is 35!
