there goes my trip to the locks gas should be close to $5.00 by then. Looks like a summer on the dock. i'll stay home at the pool. Screw this

Cant let fuel prices spoil our summer, just have to re-adjust our plans. Plenty to see local...

If you burn 1000 gallons a season and gas goes up $1.00/gallon, you're only spending $1000 more. Are you going to let that ruin your summer???

I'm not.

I just did a little over 300 mile trip and I am planning an 800 mile trip one way. I am figuring about 1000 gallons. Even at $6 a gallon it will be worth it.

And if he doesn't have an extra $1000?

Then he's SOL

When I bought my boat the price was $4.98 and I still bought the boat so no this is not going to play a major factor in this upcoming season. On the other hand if work doesn't pick up I may by forced to cut back on many things including boating. Considering what I calculated my boating costs last year thanks to a very disturbing thread last year another Thousand bucks is a drop in the bucket.

All the big boys just slow down to improve their nmpg - it is fun to cruise at 25mph but if you can slow down to 8mph and quadruple the trip for the same $s.....why quit boating?

I can understand how some people are upset about gas prices, alot of people are cutting back due to economy. Some people don't have the extra 1000 or might not want to spend that for fuel.

Look at the bright side, there will be less boats out there.

If $1000 was the difference between boating and not for me, then I would get out of boating.

Yeah, last year almost broke me when I had to buy 20 gallons for my sailboat... :)

No worries. I just siphon off of the guy next to me. It's cheaper that way.

I'm glad you're not next to me. Maybe Bob wont notice but I would.

Is John docking his boat down by me? I saw it docked in one of the marinas by me, I've seen him out sailing in the harbor a few times.

No, he still keeps it at Nyack Boat club. Are you sure it was him?

He is getting a little old. I just give him a beer and tell him it evaporated.
