I keep hearing GP San Francisco is the cheapest diesel in the Bay Area. I found the address and some directions on the internet, but no phone numbers to ask what their prices are. Or whether we just show up, call on channel ___ etc.

Who has actually filled their tanks there? Cash discount? VISA ok?

And how much cheaper are they?

Amazing, not one answer.

I was hoping Dave or Gene or Phil might chime in.

I wish there was a phone number or email address to ask a couple of questions. I guess I will just show up and try to find the radio channel they are using. Maybe it is posted.

Does this help?

"GP San Francisco Marine

Diesel-only fuel dock primarily serving commercial vessels, but open to recreational boaters as well. Reportedly has the best prices in the area. Be prepared with your fenders and lines, as there's no floating dock and you'll be tieing up to pilings. Open 6 am to 5 pm Monday-Friday, and 8 am to 4 pm Saturday; closed Sundays.

Access: Between Hyde Street Pier and Fisherman's Wharf. Enter at the north end of Pier 45 (where liberty ship Jeremiah O'Brien is generally docked), heading west behind the breakwater. Once past the large piers, head south into the large open area toward the San Francisco shore, and look for the San Francisco Marine sign."

Thanks, I had read that in the internet, guess I will just pull up, with fenders flying and see how it goes.

Figure the wife can swim over with the lines if necessary :)

I am still looking in White pages, Yellow Pages, etc. Most businesses have a land line or
advertise a radio frequency.

I emailed the SF Bay CG people, since none of us know what frequency they prefer, maybe the Coasties do. Or a phone number.

Dave,

I have just returned from using my boat for the weekend. They do have a phone number, you can call them here: (415) 673-2928. When you are approaching the San Francisco Waterfront head towards Aquatic Park. You will see a semi circular jetty to your left (east), the fuel dock is inside that jetty. You will enter from the east side between the pier and the jetty. Keep the pier on your port side and head towards land (Fisherman's Wharf is back in there behind and to the left of the pier). As you are heading in, you will see a small pier on your starboard side that is about the height of your flybridge. I would rig a couple of fenders with the lines all the way through them so that they can hang horizontally to protect your hull from the tar covered pilings. Have a bow line, a stern line and a spring line ready. As you approach the dock, an attendant will grab your lines and help you tie off. He will then hand you a fuel hose and you will have to fill the tanks yourself. Be a little careful and don't be afraid to ask him to adjust the flow rate higher or lower.

The fishing fleet will generally hit the dock either very early in the morning or in mid afternoon after their charters are complete. I personally try to arrive late in the afternoon and I always offer the attendant a cold beer. Sometimes he has accepted, other times not, but he frequently will give me the commercial rate, especially if I'm taking on a large quantity. The price is generally the cheapest but Clipper Yacht Harbor in Sausalito is often very competitive too. I will email you a spreadsheet with all of Delta/Bay fuel contacts.

Hope this helps!

Thanks Dave,
That is super. I will email you a couple of questions later.
