GREAT NEWS!!!!

What do you consider "so far out" Dave?

We spent the night out by ourselves and placed a proper amount of scope, fore and aft to be safe in case of any possible pop up storms. The next day people seemed to feel that they would decide how much scope was acceptable around people that were already there.

I was always taught that when entering an anchorage you need to respect the rights of those there ahead of you and make sure you do not anchor in such a way to endanger them or yourself. Are you saying that when things get packed the people already safely anchored should shorten things up?

Proper scope on an anchor line applies whether it is a bow or a stern anchor. Many people do not understand that when the tide changes and the current reverses direction, your stern anchor is doing all the holding. If you don't have sufficient scope out, it won't hold.

What a gorgeous weekend, we took Giggity up to Catskill Marina on Saturday (72 miles) and surprised the PBM group that had gone up for a weekend rondezvous. We only burned about 12 gallons each way and cruised at about 35 MPH. Very little boat traffice out for such a perfect day.

Yesterday in Croton was HOT - spent most of the time in the water or thinking about going back into the water.

I heard they were surprised as well. Seems they thought they had a Hogan free weekend but alas...

;)

They were lost without us! You never know when or where we will show up!

This was the best weekend of the summer. Hot and Sunny - light winds and calm seas.

Had a good time at the marina party then a great day at Croton in the large raftup.

The party was great! We then took our guests out for a ride, stopped by Civile's for dessert. A great day!

I was only joking just to see your response. I was sure you would let that slide. The reason for my comment is because I almost ran over your stern line with my dink. I drove around the end of the raft up and did not see the float that was out in the middle of the pack. As I came around to say hello I realized I was on top of your anchor rode but my dink motor wasn't anywhere deep enough to be of concern. I was glad to see so many people out having a great time. I didn't notice that anybody had anchored too close I always try to keep a safe distance.

Given how many people we had in the water I'm surprised you didn't run over any of them!

FWIW, we had at least 3 stern lines out as the raft up grew to 18 or so boats.

I see you said had I only spotted one I hope I didn't cut the other two.

If you did, you would have heard it from us...and we would have had to send out our lynching mob.

Definition: Lynching is an extrajudicial punishment meted by a mob, usually by hanging.[:-eyebrows]

just make sure you use line not rope.

I assumed the lynching would be held at sea. Therefore it's still line.
But then why can't we all be friends? I'm having too much fun to be lynched.

Sorry Dave but if you 2 Trojan men want to lynch each other than us outsiders aren't going to be able to help!

;)

Did you just call him "Trojan Man"?

Wasn't that a commercial for Trojans a while back?

OK, here is a few pictures from our Tie up on Sunday August 16th 2009.
