"Dear Friend of Restore the Delta,

As you know from all the communications material and media articles that we have generated this year, Restore the Delta has been very active in expanding its education and outreach message, and in advocacy work on behalf of Delta communities and Delta fisheries.

Thanks to the generous support of our friends, like you, we were able to finish the documentary and to finance all the broad communications work that we have completed thus far this year. But with the Governor's announcement last week, it is clear that the real fight is now beginning. We, therefore, need your support more than ever in order to sustain our comprehensive education, outreach, and communications work.

Here are three ways that you can help Restore the Delta going forward:

1. Sponsor our Grand Food and Wine Classique Event on September 8, 2012 at the Grand Island Mansion. Sponsorship packages include tickets, VIP parking, media recognition, event posters etc.
There are three levels of sponsorship: $1500; $1000 and $500.

2. Buy tickets to attend the Grand Food and Wine Classique Event on September 8, 2012. Tickets are $80 per person and $150 per couple.

3. Buy tickets and bring friends to attend the premiere screening of "Over Troubled Waters" at the Crest Theater for this coming Wednesday, August 8, 2012. We think it is important to have as many supporters as possible at this first screening so that we re-emphasize our opposition to the Governor's plan to build the peripheral tunnels.

Liz: I read the title and wondered how many folks really want to restore the delta to its pre gold rush marsh state.

LOL No, Bruce, we just want to stop the saltwater intrusion caused by +75% of the fresh water being diverted to CentralCal and SoCal. That is causing farmers in the Delta to not be able to farm; cities and towns cannot use the water for drinking; and fish cannot survive; as well as the flora and fauna.

Same issue here. GA successfully stopped the release of water into a FL river and changed its salinity. History and votes are on the side of sending water to people living in arid areas. That’s not going to change. I enjoyed great Hetch Hetchy water for a 20 years so I'm a guilty beneficiary of changing the delta. You will have to move to OR where they destroy hydro power dams so fish can migrate.

They are planning to do that [destroy dams] on the Klamath River in NorCal too. But that is after the salmon run has become extinct! The salmon did just fine before they started stealing the water.
