We went out to Bowline with five other boats yesterday, there were only two other boats in the pond. Hardly anyone was on the water.

Have you all given up boating for the season?

I noticed that also. We went up to Newburgh saturday, a nice calm day and almost no boats out. Probably the economy and gas prices.

Croton wasn't much better there are still a lot of boats on the hard. It's sad to see I wonder what this means to the future of boating and worse to the value of our boats.

We go up on the hard in a few days.

That's because you have the whole season thing backwards:) Although I like your way better.

We were out on the sound for the weekend. What did the marina look like? Was it full or empty? I can imagine with the screwy weather forecast for the weekend some may have just stayed in.

Ben how was your weekend? Sounds like you had good plans how did it work out?
I never left the dock this weekend and from the look at the dock only a handful did.

Our Marina was dead yesterday. I did go for a late afternoon cruise yesterday and the only thing I saw out there the entire time were sailboats. Of course, they don't count.

Mike, did the ice melt up your way ? ;-)

The GSB was not busy at all this weekend. My Marina was dead on Saturday but I stayed on for the night anyway. There were a few people early then they went home after a band stopped playing across the canal, I ended up being the only one there. The Admiral even stayed home. Way too quiet. On Sunday, I only saw two boats leave the marina. We were going to head out, but ended up also beig a dock sitter. We will be heading out on Friday to Atlantique Fire Island.

It's been great out there! Lots of wide open room for tacking and gybeing! Although I have already spent twice the amount on gas than I did last year ($10 vs. $5). If the cost of gas doesn't come down I might end up blowing my whole $25.00 gas budget before the year is out...

;)

We went over to Rye Playland and spent the night on a mooring. There's a restaurant with dock-n-dine moorings that let you stay the night. Trouble is the wind picked up and blew the waves in on us. Lots of rock-n-roll all night but the kids slept good. We all had a blast at the park during the day too. It's not Disneyland, but it is a lot of fun.

I was hoping to get out and across the river to pickup a new toy but did not! Friday night we hung at the dock, Saturday, we hung in the clubhouse and Sunday was soccer day! Can't wait until the soccer stuff ends in three weeks.

Chris we have the same issue with Little league games. Although we did get our for a while on Sat. where we went up to Cornwall and dropped anchor for a bit and had lunch. The river did not have a lot of traffic. Sunday was a bust as it was windy and we did not get to the boat until late afternoon due to a 1 PM game.... At least we got to be Dock Mary's for a while on Sunday.

The river has been VERY quiet this season so far. I filled up at Haverstraw last weekend and the kid at the pump said they put gas in 51 boats on Saturday and they usually do 200 boats. Also, did anyone catch the sliver moon set just after sunset on Friday evening? Just stunning.

Took ride up north on Sunday wind kicked up and no sun and a lot of wood in water. Not the best cruise.

Be careful what you wish for, felt the same as you. I would take those days back again in a heartbeat, much better than boating.

You might not see it now Chris, but you will see it when that gig is done.

Enjoy it and savor it!!!!

I I'm docked on Long Island's (Great South Bay). I was out at Wacth Hill on Fire Island Last weekend & it was only 1/2 full, Davis Part was only about 3/4 full. I kind of like it..

No grand kids to take to soccer ?

Anyone have any good plans this weekend?

TGIF I have a long day today but at least it's Friday. I can't keep my eye's open I got home at 2:30am from the Yankee game it was a nice night but I'm clearly not as young as I used to be.

Solved the anchor light problem today. Traced the whole damn circuit to the anchor light and found it to be in perfect condition. In desperation, I pulled the switch and started over. Pulled the whole switch and documented how it was connected. Compared it to the manual and found it was wired wrong. The internal light for the switch itself was connected to the nav side. Jumpered it the way the manual showed and problem solved. Bummer that the factory did wrong. Before I switched to LEDs they got away with it as it wasn't enough voltage to work the incandescent bulbs.

Happy, happy, happy.

Spent the rest of the afternoon cutting wood. Free wood! Happy, happy, happy!
