Some of the people at my marina said that the Lighthouse restaurant operators were more-or-less escorted out the door last week by the owners - anyone hear this "rumor"?

Jim

I haven't heard this particular "rumor"; however, it isn't uncommon for a restaurant lessee to default on the payments. Many overestimate how much income a restaurant will generate and/or underestimate the real cost of running this type of business!

Is the restaurant closed or are the owners now operating the business?

We ate there Sunday evening. First time since Sal left. The new manager was going to each table and introducing himself. He says he is helping to open a number of restaurants and that they had just changed the staff. I like the new setup and the food was good.

Flutter,

I had heard that the place was closed for a day or two, and opened with new people. I understand the money thing - it is a tough one, but the place seemed to be doing really well, busy everytime I was there, and pretty expensive to boot so it is a little surprise, but unless you are there, you never really know. Last dinner with my son was over fifty bucks, and that was with only one beer. It was a fantastic salmon dinner and not overpriced, just not inexpensive.

I hope the new guys do as well with the food, and wish them the best of luck.

Flutter - I sent you an email with a pic - did you get it?

Jim

I hope they make it too! Paradise at SB changed management again. Same menu and prices; mostly the same staff. If I didn't have an inside source, I would never had guessed.

Even when a restaurant is doing well, the monthly lease costs may be too much for the leasee.

Jim I received your email and responded before you posted your question......if it isn't there, I'll resend it.

The one that I thhink is going to pull it off is the Spindrift, and I support him all the time (I gott eat, right?) He has bee running it for going into 2 years I think, and it keeps getting better.

I didn't get any emails :(

Jim

The former manager and family split with consortium owners of the Lighthouse Marina and RV, of which the restaurant is a part. Mike, the original chef, has been brought back as the manager, chef. They are expanding their hours, now do lunch on Thursday through Sunday (Philly cheese steak is good and only $6.95. Breakfast will be a weekend event. It is the best food I have tasted in the Delta. I notice an improvement in the service as well.

Bill,

That is great news! I have gone by for breakfast, only to find none, so that will be really nice. I will agree it is the best food - I have had their philly cheese steak and it is hard to beat. Thanks for the info.

Jim

Dang, I better get over there before the season ends and they shorten their hours!!!!

Jim, I resent my email just before posting this........

Mike, the manager, assured me that they will be open during the non-boating season and the he is targeting the local population for a stable customer base. On a sad note, Rogelio's closed last week for lunch and will only be open at 4 PM for dinner. I will miss Diane's attention and the authentic Mexican food that they serve.

Bill

Main Street in Isleton. They serve a variety of food, American, Mexican and Chines. Diane (the owner) has a sister that owns the Pineapple Cafe down the street that serves excellent, reasonable Chinese food. Rogelio's has been open since the 70's and has been written up in many local newspapers.

Bill

Flutter,

If you do get to Isleton, you better let me know so I can buy you lunch! It's a really great little town, pretty quiet, but some great food. Oxbow is about 3 miles away, so I am there pretty regular.
