Don, you forget this boat has no nuts! No shafts either.

So the boat is a female boat ????

Perhaps and she performs well.
She slips right in to any dock
Just a flick of the joystick
Lol

Im running outside this year ... less stress....

I thought it was 3 hrs off inlet tide

Rob

Rob,
I would go outside too, but this group wants to go inside and I really don't like running outside alone. 3 hours seems like alot. Wish someone from moriches would chime in.

Dave

From the dockmaster at Westhampton Town Dock:

Moriches-Going East
Begin to turn slightly West of Buoy #15 Green (Buoys 17, 18, 20 &21 removed)

Go South East at 135 Degrees towards the Inlet
You will see 2 Red Buoys, #4 and #6W. Keep them on the LEFT (Stay between the Buoys and the Beach- it is 20ft. deep)

Go east across the Inlet and you will see Green Buoys # 3,5,7,9,11
Keep them on your LEFT. Stay between the Green Buoys and the Beach
Stay Parrallel to the beach, Cupsogue Beach
Then you will go North 90 Degrees to meet Buoy #24 Red (Keep on your LEFT) and Buoy #26 Red (Keep on your RIGHT) you go between them.
Idle Past Buoy #26 Red (Keep on your RIGHT) Idle past Buoy #27 Green (keep on your LEFT)

Then join up with the next buoy which should be either Red #28 or Green #29

When going West reverse everything

He said he's had plenty of boats come through and no issues. You should be fine around high tide.

I am not leading this time, Expresso is I think. I am following him, he has been thru and has the new course marked.
And I still say we draft the same but you draw more water because your boat spins bigger wheels so you are sucking more bottom than me. With that said, i prefer you behind me so if you spin a crab trap to the surface, I don't hit it!

Ok put the small boat in at smith point marina today and drove to the inlet. Did some fishing (6 short fluke 1 nasty sea robin). In the marked Chanel I had at least 7 foot of water. I went out at 3:30 and came in at 5:30. Tide was pretty high. I set the alarm on my depth sounder at 6" and it only went off when I was drifting and went into the flats and when I was coming into the ramp area. Sorry I didn't go east of the inlet but you should be good up to that point.

I have found that by calling either Tow Boat or Boar US - Moriches before heading east or west through Moriches that you get the best local advice. I draw 4.5 feet. Last season it was a straight shot, thhe previous year there was a dog leg towards Moriches Inlet. You must hit the Coast Guard station at high water which is not too difficult with current tide technology and smart phones. I'm heading east on July 26 from Copiague and would appreciate any info on your earlier experiences.

I will be running through there on Friday of sat. Looks like low tide is at about 830. So much for leaving amityville at 6am. I guess I'll have to delay my departure. Any updates from anyone transiting the area on we'd or Thursday would be very helpful. Thanks Ed

Buddy ran tru on Friday. 410 EC. He said it was just like last year. No issues.

Rob

Thanks Rob
I have not gone through there since there was that dogleg to the north after the CG Station. So when you say same as last year you mean run down through the inlet?
Im wondering how skinny it is when I get to Red 24 and 26?? I like to leave early on a trip like this, its killing me to have to wait till noon or so for higher water.
thanks

I just called seatow. So heading east leave main channel at green 15 and head southeast. It is well marked. Run across mouth of inlet then follow greens on your left to red 24 and re-enter main channel. Heading west it's the same.

Plenty of water low and high tide.

Do not run straight across from green 15 to red 24. It is marked but it has some bad spots. He said some boats do it but you shouldn't.

wow that's great info. I might just go and hit it at low now and take the inlet route. I would hate to miss the start of happy hour in Greenport.

Couple of low spots but past the inlet bypass. By red 26. Go slow till green 27
