So we are in Bowline yesterday enjoying the gorgeous weather, five boats rafted on one anchor. A bunch of young kids are in the water swimming.

This moron in a SeaRay comes in throwing off about a 2' wake. We all go to the backs of our boats and yell at him to slow down and make motions with our hands to slow down. He blows by us, as well as a number of other raft-ups, rocking the hell out of everyone, boats bashing together. After he passes behind us, he circles around front and almost runs over our anchor line, waking us again.

After much screaming at him, he comes closer and tells us he did nothing wrong, he was only going 5 MPH and he didn't know to slow down because he didn't have a VHF!

Well, we did, and we used it to summon the sheriff, who arrived almost immediately and stopped him, ultmately giving him a ticket.

Here is the jerk, boat name Pipe Dream, being boarded:

Justice prevails!
A big Sea Ray, with Tv antenna, radar and GPS antenna on the arch and no VHF radio...strange.

Look on the starboard side of the arch, looks like a VHF antenna, probably too stupid to turn the radio on. Hope the fine is costly.

As the younger captain in the raft up, it was inspiring watching my mentors manipulate, and intimidate this moron to stall for time so the Sheriff had time to get to the cove. This moron thought he was cute...."What, I can't hear you" he motioned. He did not seem so tough when Butchy pointed his camera at him, and the moron was informed that the sheriff would be responding with an ETA of one minute. The moron regained his hearing and realized he should begin to exit but it was too late. I must say it was rather satisfying to watch as the Sheriffs did their thing.

Good job guys. While the captain of Pipe Dreams action's were dangerous and seemed childish almost taunting I am glad you were able to use this to keep him there until the proper authorities could respond. I'll bet he was suprised to see the Sheriff boat! That has to be one of those gotcha moments!

Most boaters on the ICW agree if you are being annoyed by a jerk it's either a SeaRay or Sporty.

I wonder if the captain will see those blue lights over and over. Hope it helps his hearing!

Bout time Willis!

Reminds me of a similar type moron on my vacation when he was coming across my path from the port side. I followed the rules, maintained course and speed, then sound the danger signal, and ultimately backed off the the throttles and finally altered course to avoid a collision and he looks at me and mouths WTF in regards to the sounding the danger signal.

Seems like there are more and more people without a clue on the water each day.

That's the turd he shot when the cops stopped him?

We were at Croton Point Saturday, and heard your call to the Sheriff. While we had a rather uneventful day (and night) at CP, that's become the exception, not the rule. Too many boaters are simply oblivious to the affects fo their own actions, and the rights of others. Between high wake, close passes, and clueless anchoring, local boating seems more and more stressful every year.

Regardless, glad to hear that at least one "Holyier than thou" has a new appreciation for Law Enforcement.

- - we did have some fun watching 40ish aft cabin rafted to a go-fast . . . they seems really perplexed that 10 foot of anchor rode in 10 foot of water simply didn't hold the boats - yes, both had anchor rode out - both lines vertical off the bow! They drifed by us twice!

I was very impressed with how fast the Sheriff arrived. They imeediatly boarded the boat as he was trying to make an exit and spent about 45 minutes on board. We were getting ready to break up but waited till the sheriff was finished. They did come over and informed us they had issued the summons.

Times like that it is good to know there is law inforcement out there and they do the right thing. Looking at the pictures I believe it may have been a new boat, There are numbers on it which I do have written down as well as pictures of them but no state sticker. Perhaps he was a new boater who hopefully has learned a very valuable lesson. He could have done some extensive damage as well as hurt someone.

As the sheriff finished with the captain he did make a point to make sure he left Bowline without any further incident. I must say the captain did leave without creating any type of wake. If he had only done that when he came in there would have been no problem and his day would not have been ruined.

Too bad the jerk didn't hit the wall on the way out, that would've ended the day on a very high note!

That was said as he was leaving. Either he knew the area or the sheriff mentioned it to him. He did stay wide of the rocks. I would have been more than heppy to wave as I drove by.

I must say, I've only been boating for 3 years and still feel like I'm learning everyday. I try to keep the golden rule in mind while on the water (and everywhere else for that matter).

Seems like this person has more money than brains.

LOL... well with all the complaints I've heard about needless boarding of boats this year on the River, this is one time we can all agree it was GREAT to see the Sheriff's boat out there doing their job.... Smart work, guys - glad you were able to help teach that bozo a lesson!!!
