to Lindenhurst.

Finally going to get chance to have my boat in my backyard (after some reconfiguration) and have a fantastic view of the GSB.

Even if I have to leave my boat at the Anchorage for the next 2 years, while I work out the logistics of moving (or removing) one smaller lift and adding in a large one, I still win because I can rent out the two lifts I have to cover the cost of AYC and when necessary I can still fit my boat alongside my pier/dock for loading/unloading(as long as the bay isn't rockin' too bad).

So looking forward to this coming season!

Very nice, having a lift for your 42 will be very nice as you can keep it on the lift all year round- I'm guessing your need a small mortgage for the lift & install!

Exactly. I will need some recovery time after buying the house and all the associated costs.

But you wont need bottom paint and Zinc's will last longer!

Plus on a day like today you can go ice skating behind your house!

Congrats! We'll almost be neighbors then :) Is the house right on the bay? Between AYC and Indian Island or west of the island?

OK...had to pause this thread because I lost my original buyer but now we are back on track and we are in contract with Buyer #3 (Buyer #2 started playing games with the on/about date for closing so we sent a contract to yet another interested party and they signed a more favorable deal for us).

Anyway, we are very excited to be moving to this house on the bay. I know there are challenges with living so close to the water but we will deal with those situations as they occur.

I suspect this is going to change my boating...just not sure in what way but we are already talking about getting a second, smaller boat to be able to cruise to dinner and have more choices (there are just so many places that I can squeeze my boat into now).

After spending almost 4 months in florida I can say this is my winter home of choice.
I can't imagine spending another winter in NY.

I do think I want to keep a place in NY, but definitely not a house.

Living on the water is nice but we all know it comes with certain risks.
Have you gotten insurance quotes?
I live on the barrier island in Florida and I can tell you insurance is "sticker shock"!!!

Yep and I'm over it.

We've determined that the view and having the boat on our own dock is worth it. (when I'm bitching about it this summer please remind me I wrote that :) )

Baview Ave West...right between AYC and Indian Island.

Ok, yep, I'll be passing by on the way out! I'm on the canal next to Indian Island.

whatever it's costing you, its nothing as you cant take it with you and it seems to be a great pleasure for you and your lady!
Enjoy every moment

We have always boated on a lake. Kept the boat at a Marina four mile from the house. 35ft Carver and spent weekends living on the boat. Three years ago we downsized the boat and the house (1/2 the square footage) and bought a house on the lake. Best thing we ever did. Miss the people at the Marina but it’s just around the corner when we want to visit. Nothing like spending a day with friends on the water, docking in front of the house, and sleeping in your own bed. Waking up on the water year round and not packing and unpacking every weekend is great. We have a 30ft bow rider with a head that we spend the day on but the boat used more often is our 20ft center console. Easy to just jump on and head out, even if it’s just quick trip t get some wings on a Tuesday night. Defiantly some trade offs but the upside is huge. Good luck with your purchase!

Years ago I lived on the water across from Bergan point. Winter or summer you will never tire of the view. Always something happening. Enjoy.
