Hey Jim K. It looks like yer in the bull's eye!

From the NOAA site for our zip code...

quote:

SNOW WILL BEGIN LATE TUESDAY EVENING...AND CONTINUE THROUGH
WEDNESDAY...ENDING WEDNESDAY EVENING. HOWEVER...SOME SNOW SHOWER
ACTIVITY WITH ADDITIONAL LIGHT ACCUMULATIONS ARE POSSIBLE
WEDNESDAY NIGHT. MOST LOCATIONS WILL RECEIVE A FOOT OR MORE OF
SNOW BY WEDNESDAY NIGHT...WITH MANY AREAS LIKELY GETTING 18 TO
36 INCHES...ESPECIALLY FROM THE GREATER CAPITAL REGION NORTH AND
WEST. A BRIEF MIX WITH SLEET IS POSSIBLE IN PORTIONS OF THE
CATSKILLS...TO THE CAPITAL DISTRICT...NORTHERN BERKSHIRES AND
SOUTHERN VERMONT DURING THE DAY WEDNESDAY...BUT WILL HAVE LITTLE
AFFECT ON THE SNOW AMOUNTS. AT THIS TIME...AREAS FROM THE NORTHERN
CATSKILLS THROUGH NORTHWESTERN PORTIONS OF THE CAPITAL
DISTRICT...TO THE GREEN MOUNTAINS AND POINTS NORTHWEST HAVE THE
BEST CHANCE AT SEEING ALL SNOW

This NOAH forcaster has a sense of humor:
quote:

.SHORT TERM /TODAY THROUGH THURSDAY/...
WELL...IF THE REAL ATMOSPHERE ENDS UP RESEMBLING THE SIMULATED
ATMOSPHERE FROM THE FORECAST MODELS AND ENSEMBLE MEANS...THIS WILL
BE A STORM THAT WILL BE REMEMBERED ACROSS THE FORECAST AREA. THE
TRACK OF THE NORTHERN AND SOUTHERN STREAM UPPER FEATURES AND
SURFACE FEATURES...ARE FORECASTED TO PHASE AND EVOLVE IN AN
ALMOST IDEAL FASHION FOR HISTORICAL SNOWFALL AMOUNTS ACROSS THE
REGION. FORECAST MODELS AND REALITY ALMOST NEVER MATCH UP
PERFECTLY...BUT BETTER THAN AVERAGE CONFIDENCE WITH OVERALL
EXPECTED SCENARIO.

BASED ON SATELLITE IMAGERY...LIGHTNING DATA AND UPPER AIR
DATA...LOTS OF MOISTURE AND ABOVE AVERAGE BAROCLINICITY DUE TO
PROXIMITY TO ARCTIC AIRMASS. CURRENT CONVECTION AND DYNAMIC
TROPOPAUSE PARAMETERS SUGGEST UPPER RIDGING WILL BECOME MORE
ENHANCED WITH TIME...SUGGESTING TRACK OF UPPER/SURFACE FEATURES
MAY FAVOR MORE INLAND TRACK. THIS WOULD SUPPORT A PERIOD OF SLEET
FOR AREAS JUST SOUTHEAST OF THE CAPITAL DISTRICT INTO THE POU
AREA...NW CT...AND SOUTHERN BERKSHIRES. JUST A BRIEF MIXING OF
SLEET EVEN POSSIBLE IN PARTS OF CATSKILLS TO CAPITAL DISTRICT AND
SOUTHERN VT. STILL...ENOUGH SNOW WILL ADD UP IN ALL AREAS FOR
HEAVY SNOW AND WINTER STORM WARNINGS.

LOW-LEVEL AND UPPER-LEVEL WIND ANOMALIES STILL POINTING TO LONG
DURATION EXTREME PRECIPITATION EVENT WITH MANY AREAS RECEIVING .5
YARDS TO 1 YARD OF SNOW...OH...I MEAN 18 TO 36 INCHES OF
SNOW...WITH THE HIGHEST AMOUNTS IN HIGHER ELEVATIONS NORTH AND WEST
OF THE CAPITAL DISTRICT.

Not me, so that says we are in foor 1 more storm, after I take the cover off...

Butch, don't you mean "after Caryl takes the cover off"???

I believe we have witnessed a slip up. Maybe this has something to do with Valentine's day approaching?

http://www.crh.noaa.gov/data/ALY/AFDALY Looking potent.

No, No, Nooooo...I always take the cover off for Caryl. This way I can go thru the boat and make the list up of what she has to do. Come on guys, I do some things..

We get a headache listening to all the weather reports up here. We have one station that says posibly 9 to 18 inches. We have another that says 12 to 24. Since both my elbows, shoulder and left knee are screaming at me, my guess is "we'er gonna get some snow"!

I have a friend who lives in Parish. I told him we were expecting 2 feet and he said he was glad we were only getting flurries.

HA! Yes. But check the spelling on that. Is it Parish or Perish? I can't imagine that much snow. Geeze must be over 10 feet of snow by now.

I think they are up to 148" Dan. Than's 12 feet +.
Move than I want to deal with.
I can't wait to move to Fla.....

My son just called from Fla to say it's 72' but it's raining a bit. [:-censored][:-censored]

Joe now that takes a certain amount of 'something(s)'.
I think we lucked out on the deal with this storm. We only took about a foot+ of snow.
We'll have to see what the spring thaw does. I thought we were safe up until now.

After all the hype, fear-mongering and doomsday predictions, this turned out to be a pretty lame "storm".

Butch, it should have no effect on our timetable.

Lame here, except that the sleet we got was pretty damn heavy! Its like shoveling concrete at my house! My snowblower really struggled today, not to mention my back...

Well, maybe a little more then lame. 3 feet and still falling and blowing.

The only cover I'm taking off is the one on the back two wood piles once I get a path back to them. My guess is around a foot and a half to twenty here.

That's a lot of snow! We got the same amount, just pressed down into 4" of sleet. It did quite a number on my back and the tractor. I've got to replace the belts after that one - they were burning up the whole time I ran the thing. I didn't even get everything shoveled. It figures the first snowstorm we get after my heart attack is the heaviest damn stuff I've ever seen...

Pete,
That was just a test to make sure the work they did was done right.

So Pete does the stint whistle when things get pumping?

Ooops. You have those things also!

Dang good invention.

I know my brother is grateful they can install the plugs that go between the main heart chambers. it's like two umbrellas on each side that they open and pull together to seal the leak between the ventricles. Awesome stuff they've come up with.

Yeah, its just lovely. I'm so glad to be the recipient of modern technology. I was hoping instead to be like one of those people Willard Scott talks about in his Smuckers presentation every morning...

I didn't hear any whistle. Just the steam coming out of my ears...
