Please be advised that the old forum is being auctioned off to the highest bidder. Whom ever is currently in control over there has threatened to sue me for even ASKING about the old site.

I won't get into that issue but I did receive this when I initially asked if the forum database was available.

"The auction will include the entire Web Site and all content, copyright ownership of the site design and content will be transferred to the winning bidder upon receipt of payment in full."

I don't know about you but it bothers the hell out of me that they feel my personal information can be sold like my private email address which was stated that it would NEVER be sold and or disclosed.

I have no idea who's running the show there now since they won't use any names, just "Domain Administrations" but they are not scoring any points in my book.
 
Hey Rommer,

I called that number before I figured out it was hi jacked. The guy was damn rude. He hung up on me as soon as I inquired about the regal site.
 
Hummm, the plot thickens! In light of this, I cannot imagine any of us Regal owners rejoining the "new" Regal Owners Forum.

I'm with you all about our personal information being sold to whoever. Are we sure that someone didn't kidnap Ed and take the site captive? It's pretty odd. It's hard to believe that Ed would sell us all out like that on his own free will.

As mentioned, I too inquired via email about what was included in the bidding. ie: domain names and website/contents etc. I too did not receive a reply to my inquiry. The way it's going, anyone could end up with it and all our personal contact information. That is to say that whoever actually pays for it, truly gets the actual contents as they suggest.

that seems unbelievable to me. are there any lawyers in the house? i can understand they have the right to sell the domain name, but i would think they would not have the right to sell the content..... unless..... there was a disclaimer that we signed when we signed up. and then ED sold out and left us hanging.
 
For me the words "pond scum" come to mind...

I don't know about the rest,
but I won't go back unless one of our own or Regal ends up with it..

If I knew that we'd really get what they say, I'd try to come up with the $$ just to get it back and out of their hands. At this point, they can keep it for all I care.

What people may want to do is adjust their links to pictures, etc. (e.g., move pictures to a different photobucket location/address). At least valid links to pictures will not be picked up as part of the database.

One of the things I noticed when doing Google searches on the Regal keyword I would get hits on content in the old site ... it was publicly available information.

Personally didn't care too much other than to be aware that this was the case - and be careful on what I posted.

Just thought I would share that tidbit. Not sure if that was commonly known and it didn't occur to me as a significvant issue until now.

I still have this email from them when I originally joined..
I forgot they also have our HID numbers.

That's a good point, it would be easy to move photos to a different folder to break those old links - or remove them all together.

Glad to see you made it old friend. hope you didn't run into any turtles on your way across the internet to get here! Rommer can we add some more smiley options, we need some turtles and some saskatchawan cowboys for our friends from up north.

I am thinking the same way as you. I initially thought, screw it, just buy the site. but then I thought, who the heck are we dealing with? "Pond Scum" is about a nice a way to put it as any. But in my mind, you would not be able to trust the other side of the deal. Plus, I don't want to give those jerks any money. let em sit on the site and make nothing from it. those bids they have are probably bogus anyhow, in an attempt to get others to bid the price up. Screw them. We have the people and that's what made that site special in the first place. so let's just get everyone over here and we will be good to go.

I second the motion for more smileys ... Jeff, I have to congratulate you for almost spelling Saskatchewan right ... not many Canadians do that well ... ;-)

Yeah, funny almost got that right and I keep screwing up easy things like "Vaughn". I keep wanting to put a extra "a" in there for some reason. Apologize about that.

Probably a standard agreement when you signed up, just like every other forum out there, including boatered.com: "All material posted on this site becomes the property of..." (copied directly from the Boatered.com forum guidelines and privacy notice). Once you post, the material becomes the property of the forum owner - you agreed to that.
 
We can still break the photo links... if we really care to do so.

Also,

I think if we put these key words in one of these posts, it will help our friends find us quicker with a google search as Jeff eluded to in one of the posts.

Thus the intent of doing so. Any of these searches should all bring them to here, our new home.
