Wayne being you are so interrested in whats going on at SPBM even when you are so happy at HM, the crew repairing our marina I believe work for Wayne on his projects. The forman has a boat 2 slips from me and very nice guy. He is keeping us informed. I hope that helps you so you don't have to keep visiting us every weekend. LOL

I am always interested in the resorts in our area. Just read Boating On The Hudson.
Its good to be informed.
By the way, how's that L shaped pool coming along. WC told me himself he had the plans in the works. To be clear, I only visited to see the freinds couldn't come to HM with the rest of 11 of us because I guess they could't justify the extra cost, for deeper water, live band, dock hands, calm water and on and on.

Good morning!!!

Its not that the friends couldn't they just didn't want too.

That's funny, because one of my friends said to me quote "I just can't justify the additional cost" But your right the increase in services is just not worth it to some. If you want I can list the services we get now. LOL

All this is just in fun, I wish everyone a great and healthy summer wherever you are

Mike we never visit you because your never at the dock!!!

Great picture Allen, that looks like it is at some kind of resort...

Wayne, hope to see you out this weekend.

+1 :-)

And Butch didn't even have to leave his boat to take that picture

There is no question I miss the view from my old slip and this year the I have even less of a view because HM decided we didn't have enough protection so they added 8 feet of dirt to the peninsula. I still enjoy the view of all the boats around me and I feel save in my slip!
BTW have you come up with an escape plan if a storm rolls in DURING THE SEASON and there are no available slips at MYC? I guess you could come crawling back to HM and beg them to take you in, I don't think they would but it's going to be that much harder to ask after all the bashing that's been done!

As Wayne said "All this is just in fun, I wish everyone a great and healthy summer wherever you are"!

No one is bashing, it's just flavor, priorities and personal preferences!! That's all.... But still Dave have a point, what if it does happened? Who knows with this crazy weather, rain, winds and it drastically changes by the day. We all should have plan B. if there is a storm during the season I would ask HM to take the boat out, maybe Mike have more chance then to be safe :-)

Nope, it was actually high tide but the good news is with a 3.5 foot draft I can get in on most low tides. Kick up a little mud once in awhile but have never been stuck out due to tide. I do try to watch it so I'm not coming in dead low but as I have said, never been stuck due to tide. They only added 8 foot. That's not enough!

Haverstraw didn't fare all that well during Sandy - if Hank didn't move, he might have gotten that new boat he was looking for.

If a major storm hits during the season, the real question is where are 1000 boats from Haverstraw going to go for protection - they can't pull that many on a couple of days notice.

I already know that Haverstraw has no interest in helping neighboring boaters in the case of an emergency - so I wouldn't even waste my time asking.

If it happens, I'll make sure my insurance is up-to-date, add extra lines and hope for the best. If my boat is destroyed, I'll get a new one.

Which on they should do first! Help 1000 of their own boats or help neighbors! I think we know the answer. Any way we will all need a little bit of luck where ever we are and as Mike said GOOD INSURANCE!!!

I think overall the docks at Haverstraw did very well. The couple exposed fishing boats at the entrance were beat up and maybe one or two other boats took on some damage. (Probably from not being secured properly) The reason I went inside was firstly it was available and secondly I was the only boat left out on the end of blue dock so that left me exposed. As we all know, it ws not a wind event that did the damage, it was the surge and Haverstraw has very high pilings and is mostly very protected.

You guys did the most bashing.

First off Todd I wasn't referring to you! Secondly I have not bashed any marina at all I have said many times I like SPBM I don't like the fact there is not enough water there this is not bashing it's stating a fact! If you don't draft as much as me and or are simply OK with the limits placed on the use of your boat based on tides then that is great! I'm very happy in my no home as I hope everyone else is where ever you may be!
Some here hold a grudge for being turned away and feel they need to knock HM for a smart business decision that I for one understand.
