Evaporust is an excellent product when used as intended. Rusty wrench you want to remove all the rust, great, soak it in Evaporust. The product evaporates so the object needs to be immersed in the product in a closed container. They sell Evaporust in a larger container with a strainer.

Have a rusty shovel you want to remove/convert the rust and repaint, use Naval Jelly or Rustoleum Rust reformer. Then prime & paint. Not Evaporust.

Rust stain on your carpet, then use Wink or similar.

My exhaust manifolds and risers have always been the most susceptible to rust. Muriatic acid (hydrocloric acid) to remove rust and get a raw iron surface. The iron is very susceptible to rust so I repeated rinse off the raw iron to bring out a thin, even rust haze. Then rinse with phosphoric acid to convert the rusty iron haze (iron oxide) to iron phosphate which isn't oxidizable. Then paint.

This virtually the same process GeeBee has for Aluminum but for iron.
