So when does the shrink wrap come off?

Oh come on that was funny ....

Guess true too... from the reaction... lol

Don , sending u email tomorrow .. lol how'd the rest of the install go ?

Rob

Great...... all's left to do is fill both the engine heat exchangers with fresh anti freeze ...open the seacocks and start them boys up.

All 4 new exchangers fit perfect......job came out real nice and neat. Im happy with the custom build Lenco did......

Dave......This was the engine cooler/exchanger that was original equipment....from Mercruiser in 1995 on a 7.4 EFI/MP.
trannycooler013.jpg

It was ALL 3 coolers/exchangers in ONE unit. The 4" tube was the engine cooler...the smaller tube was a combo oil & tranny cooler. Last season just the tranny cooler failed. I tried to replace it with a brand new cooler unit.....but Mercruiser claims it was a limited edition ( aka: piece of junk ) cooler....no longer used or manufactured...none around / your on your own. My only choice was to have new ones custom built.

This is what I had made:
newcoolers002.jpg

A seperate engine only cooler...but now a 5" tube for more cooling capacity.

Then this :
newcoolers003.jpg

A combo oil & tranny cooler....also now a larger tube for more cooling capacity.

One setup per motor. Installation was smooth....some replumbing of the raw water hoses....re-route some oil lines ....and the manufacturing of some brackets.....and we're good to go. Better then original........

You gotta love the engineers at Mercruiser........ :) :) :)

No.......I run the 50/50 mix...... it cools fine.

Don

It's not just the Merc Guys. It is the same setup on my Detroits. Luckily they were ok ofter getting boiled out but we were planning to go the same route you did if they were not. It was actually cheaper to fabricate separate units than one big one.

Just to piss don off .. took an hour ride today.....

Then it started to rain.... Boats all loaded ... ready to rock and roll.....

I noticed alot rust on my motors so i have to get some paint... and had massive corrosion on two batteries .One port and one stb. Terminals were tight and they had covers so no water was dripping on them. anyone have a clue as to how and why it happened?

: )

Rob

Condensation, you need a heater in the bilge.Remember the warm nov.dec.and jan, I had my bilge heater off, and went to the boat in Dec, holy sh-t the motors were drenched.... Fired up that heater and even now no moisture.....

Corrision on batteries.... not sure, but if I had no charger running all winter and no heat, I would yank them. At the least, I would disconnect them. Even when your battery switches are off you are drawing power from your CO detectors, not good for the battery.

I will be down at the boat tommorow, hopefully all day...

Walter

NO
I am hoping for this weekend or Next week
Last week in DC, This week NJ & San Deigo(for a day+ [:-banghead])
This work sh!t is a pain in the A$$

Fired up the boat on Sunday, a little water was spiting up from the lower part of my starboard fan belt. Could be a water pump issue? I will do more investigating over the weekend. Otherwise my engines were running fine; Gen-set took a few cranks to start but ran fine. A/C and reverse cycle heating was working. Seems all systems a go.
This weekend I will be commissioning the water systems and loading boat with provisions.

Hope to take my first run next week.

Brad its ur water pump. Mine went bad last year too .
