Ok Pete ya caught me! HA! LMAO!
Seriously that was a shake down "cruise". We stayed away from the dock so we could run the genny, inverter, follow me TV and etc.. As it turned out inspite of a genny issue that drained the house batteries we had a great time. While Deb was working on cookies in the oven for the company that came over later I looked into a diesel odor in the bilge. The racor inside the genny sound shield had a plastic fuel bleed bolt that was weeping. So while the genny was driving the oven with the cookies in it Dan (a.k.a. Dumb sh....t) laid a wrench on the bolt head. That was all I did. Honest. As soon as I touched the bleed bolt head it snapped off and a good ol' faithfull of diesel fountain started spewing into the genny enclosure.
So I put a finger on it (which was enough actually) to stop it.
Deb was only half way through the cookies when I shut down the genny.
I would have been better off staying in the bilge and holding back the diesel like a Dutch Boy for 10 minutes instead of shutting it down.
So that led to some rust, and a fuel pump and some paint, and etc. etc. etc.. But the genny is happy now, and we had a good time since there was enough residual heat in the oven to finish the cookies! All in all it was well worth the shake down since we isolated a potential bummer while being close to home.
And yes, we still owe Julie a couple of nights for the mooring ball. We were up there for my Bday and they were closed for vacation. Of all the nerve.
And thanks for the photo!
