So Who is still boating?

OOOO Butch, that hurt!!

I'm bringing mine home this year too. Been a few years since I've done that but got to save a few bucks here & there.

I would like to bring mine home but the law says we cant. It was nice having the boat in the back yard so I could work on it after work out there in the back yard...

Have you checked with Ramsey on what you plan to do? That town can be pretty anal about what they allow in parking lots. (At least they used to be like 15 years ago)

Thanks for the concern Johhn, but I don't think I will have a problem.
We are not in the town of Ramsey but rather on the east side of 17 on the Mahwah/Ramsey border in an industrial area.

Currently I have a 30' x 14' x 24' and a 20' x 12' x 10' "Cover it" garage, the samll boat on it's trailer and a car trailer with an old Land Rover on it.. all stored in the parking lot and we have never had an issue.

I guess things change in 15 years....

Well lets see ...I've only slept a few nights on the boat this year and a few in hotels and B&Bs on trips but , I guess they don't count as much if your actually not at the marina or more than 5 miles away from it ....:)

Some time in Oct Jon. Depends on weather and a mess of logistics like Dan finishing the upgrades and the SO getting out as well.

Uhh, it may be awhile - here's how Dan does his preparations:

Ok Pete ya caught me! HA! LMAO! :D

Seriously that was a shake down "cruise". We stayed away from the dock so we could run the genny, inverter, follow me TV and etc.. As it turned out inspite of a genny issue that drained the house batteries we had a great time. While Deb was working on cookies in the oven for the company that came over later I looked into a diesel odor in the bilge. The racor inside the genny sound shield had a plastic fuel bleed bolt that was weeping. So while the genny was driving the oven with the cookies in it Dan (a.k.a. Dumb sh....t) laid a wrench on the bolt head. That was all I did. Honest. As soon as I touched the bleed bolt head it snapped off and a good ol' faithfull of diesel fountain started spewing into the genny enclosure.

So I put a finger on it (which was enough actually) to stop it.

Deb was only half way through the cookies when I shut down the genny.

I would have been better off staying in the bilge and holding back the diesel like a Dutch Boy for 10 minutes instead of shutting it down.

So that led to some rust, and a fuel pump and some paint, and etc. etc. etc.. But the genny is happy now, and we had a good time since there was enough residual heat in the oven to finish the cookies! All in all it was well worth the shake down since we isolated a potential bummer while being close to home.
And yes, we still owe Julie a couple of nights for the mooring ball. We were up there for my Bday and they were closed for vacation. Of all the nerve. ;)

And thanks for the photo!

Roundout wont be the same next year without freedom there.
Oh well, at least we will get to hear about your adventures over the net durring the winter

Don't count us out yet! In all sincerity we have no idea where we will be in '09. Could be the loop, could be here, could be there, or could be just looped :D.

You crack me up Dan.
By the way ,let me know if you find a good way to get rid of diesel stink !
We are going to do another trip your way before the seasons done and will look forward to saying HI to you and Deb, as always.

Yup, another month to go up here! Planning on making the most of it, even if it just means hiding out up in the hook or down at the state park.

Favorite time of the year! My brand new house bank is all set to keep the ceramic furnace running (beit on low) all night long if needed!

Hey Ken we will be up at RCYC this weekend for their chicken bake. Stop by if you are around.

Sure Dan, We will be around so I will run the dink over to say hi!

Well Dan, I'm glad you got your problems straightened out. Better to happen in the Creek
than out in the Atlantic somewhere...

We're pretty much tapped out for boating this year, but just finished up a fun trip - I
posted some pics in the Carver Forum on one of the "sticky" threads...

I hope you all enjoy what's left of the season, and maybe we'll still see you out there...

It's certainly possible. We have a few weekends left and picking up a mooring ball at the Anchorage is definitely a possibility! I can't believe how great the weather has been recently. Anyone who hauled out at Labor Day is definitely missing out.

Yeah - we were all off yesterday afternoon (Junior had a doctor's appt), so we went out on Lake Mahopac for a few hours. Whatta gorgeous day!!!

Well we pretty much emptied the boat on Saturday. Too many non boating activities coming up the next few weekends. Have some beer left on board just in case I stop by. Looking at hauling the boat around the 18th of Oct. Winterize it the following weekend and that will be it. We'll decide next spring what to do with the boat it looks like since we don't have a slip for next season yet.

I am trying to avoid that. The amount of time we spent on the boat this summer I could have left it on the hard for a year and save allot of money.

I think I put 10-15 hours on the boat. Only went under the TZ bridge last weekend just to say I went under one of the bridges. Too much back and forth to Croton and that was it.
