I never doubted it!

Will the dredging be done by then or will they do that later on?

How much more dredging can be done? They are presently at 15ft at low tide and all the material now resides in the middle of the Haverstraw entrance channel.

Does anyone know there is another way into SPBM from the steet ?
Behind the used boats is another entrance and exit to the marina. It was always blocked by the used boats.

Am at the boat now having a cup of coffee and an electronic cigar. Cut the wrap away so I can install my dinghyramp Saturday. The alternate entrance is not only open but they cleared all the boats away from the area. Something is definately up. I think we should all speculate on this. Can you say page 50?

I speculated already and Bill said "Dave you been drinking heavy again....????"
I wasn't at the time but right about know this sounds like a good idea! Let me know if you need a hand on Saturday. I may paint the bottom or start polishing but I plan to be up there either way. I have to shake a leg if I'm going to get in soon.

The remote offices for the bridge crews will be arriving soon.

I'm going with Butch's theory here. I will add that with no factual data to back up my speculation, they are only opening up the marina to D-Dock and north of that will be rented out for the TZ bridge staging area. Of course this will need dredging so when they are done a deep water marina and resort will take its place. I hope the condo's go in also. I will be the first in line for a river view unit with my slip in sight.

Word has it that anyone who left SPBM within the past five years will not be allowed back.

That is why I winter there and still have a family menmber with a boat slip. They get three of our 4 season expenses. No worries, I will invite you all over for a party on my veranda.

I believe the condos are out. Sandy changed everything. Emergency vehicles can't fit under the RR bridge and if the road is flooded there is no way in or out. Because of that the town said no. It's just industrial property now. No houses.

Hard to argue with that. But I will anyway. Many coastal communities have one way in or out that if flooding occurs there is no way for emergency vehicles to enter or exit. If this was the criteria, Long Beach Island would be closed down, (for one local example). That is why they evacuate them and quite frankly all it takes for somebody to leave is to walk over the railroad tracks and they are out in 30 seconds. They are allowing the homes to be rebuilt along River Road as long as they are up high. All you need to do is put condos on stilts and make lower level parking garage. I will be buying the penthouse so I dont have to leave.

I'm with the town on this one. Long Beach Island was developed before we had all these rules. The have to deal with what's there now. At the marina there is no housing there so why create a problem. I don't think my 96 year old uncle would want to scramble up and over the tracks if he lived there. I personally wouldn't buy a condo with 35 freight trains going by 100 feet from my window every day. Plus now we get to keep our marina.

Look what you started, Wayne - the most "replied to" topic in the history of BoaterEd!

Happy Easter to you too!
