Bob you got pulled out by other marina for the storm, and they did it on short notice. That a marina who cares.

Todd,
When did I say that Patsy's Bay Marina didn't care about their patrons? Everyone at Patsy's is fantastic and I greatly appreciate everything they do. As you know I have been wintering there for 5 years and was the first to winter there out of our group as SPBM damage my boat and did not pay full restitution. So what is your point?

So if all your marinas are so great why did you not stay and ride the storm out or get pulled out? Its so easy to chastise another marina to your own benefit. The good thing is that you are not at our marina.

You obviously missed the entire point of my post.

Our marina, just like the one you were in, was going to, and did, take a direct hit from Sandy - resulting in loss and damage to boats. Haverstraw ran itself like a business, and didn't care about neighboring fellow boaters. MYC went out of their way to HELP neighboring fellow boaters. There is an unwritten code among boaters that we help each other in time of need.

By acting the way they did, each of those two marinas showed their "true colors".

Mike really? PB took direct hit but HM didn't? Is HM 100 miles away!

Mike ,
I did not miss the point as I know you long enough to read between the lines. [}}:-|>>]

So I take it that you will not be out on Saturday due to your mid morning mamosa's? And the tide will be low....Hmm Mamosa's isn't that a dock mary drink?

What is a "mamosa" - is that made with breast milk?

We will be joining the celebration that our marina owners are hosting, then we will be out later. Get a good spot to anchor.

Mimosa... My bad... And for you, it is made with breast milk.

HM is not exposed to the river like PBM, Patsy's and SPBM are, therefore it did not take a direct hit. In fact, the protection it affords is why I reached out to them to move my boat there during the storm - you know, when they said, "no, we don't help fellow boaters, you're on your own".

With 8 to 12 foot serge it doesn't matter how protected you are, any way the wave breakers all were gone, the fuel dock vanished... Again the way I look at it it is a business and should run like one. That's why whom ever is there is happy.
You know I care for your boat like mine but I just think they made a good business decision.

Bob i did not say you said anything bad about patsy's, im just saying how they took care of you during the storm. And i was the first or maybe the same year to winter with them, then everyone followed.

Todd and Bob I have you both beat by more the ten years! I have always winterized there not that I was ever part of your group but I was a member of SPBM and I never keep my boat there for the winter.

Hogan I used to have a nice view at least at high tide until Wayne showed up directly behind me:) Actually this year they raised the wall about 8 feet so even at high tide I can barely see over the wall but I still enjoy the view.

As for this weekend I was supposed to move my son in Albany Saturday but these plans just changed for reasons that piss me off but at least I have a full weekend on the boat. I think only have a half day tomorrow so life is good!

HM made a buisness decision that will keep me from ever going there again. In our buisness every customer is important and we do every thing we can to help them out. Have even cleared up other peoples service screw ups. I guess thats why we are still in buisness and alot of others have been forced to close. Thats one buisness decision I will always stand by my son for. The customer does come first! And I can say I do know 1st hand boats where told to leave. Not all of them did!!!

As do I Butch. This is not a made up story. When HM told their CURRENT, PAID UP members to leave and go fend for them self during a hurricane I lost what ever little respect I had for Wheeler.

The remainder of the HM staff were simply following his orders and you could tell they weren't thrilled with what they had to say to people.

Anyway, to get back on topic, how is the SPBM dredging going? They finished yet? Might need a slip this weekend. ;)
