SPBM

Dave I will be glad to loan it to you. I will reclaim it either by riding on your boat or moving it back to my new one when and if it gets delivered...

I'm good with the rides especially if you don't get a new boat by Spring! besides what you don't know is I have been stealing your fuel for years, this is the only way I can afford to keep boating:)

I understand its an on going joke about SPBM however most people posting negative comments are no longer members. I know there are alot of members who have damaged boats and are concerned about if they will have dockage space for the spring, and also if they will be able to get repairs. I really think it is in bad taste to post negative comments when we bave so much damage to be taken care of.

WR - my comments were not meant to be negative as I have always defended SPBM and I certainly was not poking fun at anyone who took on damage as I feel terrible for everyone including the owners. I however do not believe that dredging will take place anytime in the near future as some may believe. That wa the only point of my teasing.

I always wondered why only SPBM is critisized for not dredging. Patsy's and Penny Bridge have the same low water at low tide and they don't get critisized for not dredging. You people who left SPBM because you were unhappy there should move on and get on with your life. You had a right to leave but some of us like it there. Do you still bad mouth other businesses you no longer deal with? I don't. Let it go.

I will speak for only myself. I have never once bad mouthed SPBM. Not when I was there and not once I left. As far as dredging goes, I don't believe any of the other marinas were rumored to be in the process of dredging.

Ken, perhaps because dealing with management at Patsy's and PB is a PLEASURE to deal with and they operate their business with honor and trust. They even treat their employee’s well and don't treat them like crap and toss them under the bus. (Ie GK)

The current SPBM owner has a long history of cutting corners, promising the moon and delivering little while coming up with creative ways to exhort money from customers where he can. It's great to see that many people are able to escape management’s shenanigans at SPBM but there are many that don't and they either sue or move on. We voted with our wallet and even came back for a season because of all our friends there but ultimately we left for good.

While our current boat isn't really suited for Patsy's and PB we have had conversations with both yards since we need a place to pull out in the spring every few years to do our bottom work. We would gladly do business with either of those places as they go out of their way to make you feel wanted and it's obvious they want your business.

Current SPBM members can say what they will about the place but the bottom line is the marina has been losing customers EVERY year since Wayne took over. Look how many of you posting here winter your boats at Patsy's or Miniseongo. Why is that? Is SPBM marina winter storage area's full or have they caused so much damage and ill will that people don't trust them with their prized boats? And every year another group of boaters leave for the deeper water of places like Haverstraw or Miniseongo.

SPBM has the potential to be a excellent marina but IMO not with the current ownership. I really feel for all of those that have suffered damage and loss from Sandy and things are going to be really tough for the foreseeable future at many marinas but I'd rather have a working relationship with any marina but SPBM if I was in the position of needing prompt, reasonable and quality work.

BTW - as for dredging, IIRC there was a joint commission of at the time 5 marinas in Stony Point Bay that were all set to start the dredging project. All but one voted to go ahead with the project. Guess which one said he would not participate? He was too busy trying to buy the land/operations around Pasty's in an attempt to put them out of business. Even paying a million for the lot between the 2 places.

How well did that work out for the sleaze ball? Last I heard he defaulted on the loan since it was of no benefit for him after Patsys beat him out of Belle Harbor.

You people can say you want about SPBM, I have never had an issue with him. I just want a toilet to flush when I use it, if it rains or not.
I don't want a marina to tell me "If the toilet doesn't flush don't go"

Is that why you are going to Haverstraw Wayne? Because their toilets work?

Seriously, that's a first for that type of reason as far as I can tell! :)

Funny thing, as much as I love Haverstraw the bathrooms don't impress me. I tend to use the head on board so it isn't an issue for me but frankly they are not much better if at all then SPBM. This is about the only comparison I would really make:)

If anyone goes to Haverstraw because of the bathrooms are they ever in for a rude awakening. Haverstraw's bathrooms have always been sh*tholes!! On a summer week-end when there are hundreds of people using them, they do not get cleaned at all until sometime after 10:00 PM and then not again until the next night.

They are a true testament to the filth that people can create. Hell even McDonald's cleans their bathrooms at least once each hour.

The bathrooms at PennyBridge are always clean.

Well this thread has taken an interesting turn. It looks like prediction of 5 pages may come true.
