1st lets see who will come and from where
have boat and car as options
a location can then be setup and the Spring date
so whos game?

Of course I'm game! By car or by boat. My boat is located at Bethel Island.......

One time some of us gathered on the Sunday of President's Day weekend in February and had dinner at Spindrift Restaurant. We picked Sunday so that we could enjoy their famous chicken and dumplings. We were not disappointed! 8 of us attended, which was about 50% of those who said they would be there. I was the only one who came by boat. yzer and his wife have their boat at Spindrift, so they can be counted as being at their boat!

We're berthed at Willow Berm and would enjoy meeting other RO's. Count us in!
 
i like spindrift my wife and her brother went to grade school with chris we were in there one time and my wife and
her brother thought they recognized him, asked the bar tender if owners name was chris, they remenbered him after all those years
they met and had a few laughts
 
There are lots of good places to consider. But any place chosen must be confirmed with the owners. Some places are closed between New Years and March every year [such as Moore's Riverboat], but others may also close due to the economy. It would be a shame to arrive and find nothing available!!!!
 
I think it's a great idea! I've never been to Spindrift by boat - lots of times by car, and they have great food and are very nice people. Anyone know what the guest dock situation is like? I know Moores has great guest docks, and so does Tower park. I think Tower Park is closer to the Bethel Island gang, Moores might be more in the middle??

I up for a meet, almost any time.

Actually Moore's is closer by boat for the Bethel Island gang, as you call us [^], going by boat. TP may be faster as a bird flies........

Spindrift's guest docks are right next to the gas dock and usually requires sterning in to get several boats there. The harbormaster usually will assist if necessary. If you spend the night, it is $20/boat. Not every spot has power available 'cause the power posts are shared with some open slip berthers.

how about meeting at villagewest marina they have two places to eat an plenty of parking bye paul
 
I'd love to meet my fellow ROs. I'm in. I keep my boat at Riverboat, but can meet just about anywhere.
 
I would enjoy meeting the folks on this forum. My boat is at Bethel Island, it is a small boat with a flat bottom so if the water isn't perfectly calm I may come by car. Thank you RubyRay for organizing this spring fling event. DD
 
Great idea. Count me in. I'm in the Pittsburg Marina & can go anywhere.
 
if good weather for a few days may boat in otherwise ill have to drive by car
whatever place we pick will be setup 1st with mgmt at location and a notice will
be made, ive been to spindrift a few times not by boat,is village west to far south?

any place at franks track to consider?

Well as long as you asked, I really like Sugar Barge at Bethel Island, but I am partial as I have been a Dry Storage customer there for going on 8 years now. The restrauant Paradise is good I have had a couple of partys there and they took good care of us. I have also used the covered picnic tables down by the RV Park to host a potluck.

Flutterby, I got my anchor today, isn't it beautiful? I am a full paying forum member like you now, no longer a free loader. DD
 
Count me in for the spring fling. As Flutter mentioned, I'm partial to Spindrift Marina and Restaurant as the boat is berthed there, but I'll be happy to make the trip to any Delta location.

In addition to Spindrift's overnight slips near the fuel dock there are some side ties available between the marina office and the levee.

By car, Spindrift is about a 15 minute drive east from Rio Vista. Parking is on the levee or on the island just behind the restaurant.

Paradise at Sugar Barge has shut down. Out of business. The Marina, gas dock and RV park are still operating. Looks like we can't meet at Sugar Barge......

Village West is a good location. If I can't get there by boat, I can surely drive my car!

Village West has Garlic Bros for dinner & Bob's for breakfst, plus the showers are clean.
 
Garlic Bros at Village West sounds good, I have not been there. From my delta map it looks like I could go there via Holland Cut, Mildred Is and Empire Cut and not get into to rough of water crossing the San Joaquin up by Lost Isle. Speaking of garlic, I indirect grilled one of those marinated garlic pork tenderloin from Costco over the holidays. Cooked up some apple wood smoked bacon, beans and rice in the pressure cooker and that made for a delicious meal and nice leftovers.

Instead of Holland Cut, go a little further north to Connection Slu which follows the south and east borders of Mandeville Island. This will take you through calm water east and hook you up with the SJ Channel where the wind is not usually a factor. Going on an incoming tide also helps to smooth out the water.

I think Garlic Bros stays open year round, but again someone would need to confirm this when the time comes. With this tough economy, nothing can be assumed.
 
Flutterby, you are right that is the way I go to Lost Isle crossing over from Holland Cut to Connection Slough about a mile south of the Irish Landing tide station. If you have a mapping GPS have you noticed the map detail disappear on Holland Cut from Irish Landing to about a mile south? It must be a borderline between map sections in my Garmin Blue Chart Americas map download with my GPSMAP 76CS because the detail always disappears and the background goes brown during that section of water, I look over the side and there is still water under me so I know that I am not on land. The map detail resumes after I turn and cross over to Connection Slough. DD
