I don't get it. My next boat will be a bridge boat.....for the purpose of extra salon space......and being able to "see" better then on an express boat.

Why have a bridge boat and drive from the salon ???
 
I had my Trojan F36 for 5 seasons. It had upper and lower helms with a full bridge enclosure. The only thing I ever used that lower helm for was to start the boat. I put the windshield cover on in the spring and didn't take it off until fall.

This boat doesn't have a lower helm but with full enclosure on the bridge, I don't see the need. I do know boaters who use it but I never liked the loss of visibility.

I Run the boat from both helms- it’s the best of both worlds
If it’s a nice, warm day we run from the bridge with the wind, sea air and all that other good stuff –BUT if it’s cold, to hot, raining or very rough sea’s – the lower helm is where it’s at! And if the bridge boat is a sedan like ours with the overhang above the cockpit to give you the ‘Party’ bridge - you can see better from the lower helm while docking and can step out the pilothouse door to tie up a spring line- OMG I sound like Pascal!
It has heat, A/C windshield wipers/washers/defroster

Andy......... NICE lower helm.

The only thing I would have done different is......if I seen that guy peekin in my window...I would have called the cops. :) :)
 
If there's plenty of room for Walter, how come you didn't let him inside?
:) :)

Oh..and that is a good lower helm. Looks well designed so I guess it really depend on the boat.
