Yesterday evening we were in the dink drifting in the middle of the river north of the kgn light. We were outside of the channel. We watched as two patrol boats one headed north and the other south approached each other from a distance. We were off the beach well out of the channel in the middle of the river when the north bounder makes a HARD RIGHT and starts coming our way.
For what ever reason the south bounder got his attention and we avoided what looked like an inspection.
Geo thanks for posting the link. Lex it was a good honestly written letter. I can only suggest that alot of the increased activity is due to alcohol related injuries, deaths, and other boating accidents with the threat of terrorism added in for extra incentive.
I'm sure all of us have had to pass through a toll booth or intersection where the police have decided to set up a sobriety check point, or inspection sticker check.
I don't know how they can do that on the river effectively but if that was their intention they really missed the mark because they have demonstrated out uncoordinated the services are through their (hopefully) unintended harassment.
Either than or they got the word to ratchet things up for a reason. Sadly, the boating community is on the low end of who can deliver the most crap. I wonder how many cars and trucks pass over the TZ bridge in the amount of time it takes us to pass under it at 10 knots.
Lex
I started reading some of the responses to your letter. Wow.
