I've shared my story before. Safe to say BoatUS has more than paid for itself in my case. Been with them for over 15 years. Didn't use them for the first five or so. Then overheated an engine just after leaving Westhampton, not even at Moriches yet. Anchored quickly, hailed BoatUS, they arrived within 10 minutes. Got towed all the way from basically Westhampton to Massapequa. Handed off to two different BoatUS boats along the way flawlessly. Invoice comes later and is near $1,800.
Had a plastic fly wheel break off on an engine a few years back while I was 3+ miles offshore. BoatUS was out there in a half hour. Guy guided me back in through the inlet with big rollers and the admiral quite nervous. Total pro. Have since used them a few other times for minor things. So I have more than broke even on the expense. But for me, the peace of mind and assistance more than pays for itself.
As said before, Red or Yellow, they are always there. You wouldn't believe how many times they are first on scene at emergencies too. Boat flipped in Jones Beach inlet yesterday. BoatUS was first on scene. Got a chance to see the big Coast Guard silver monster out of Short Beach at the scene as well. Very cool.
