Trojan 440 Upgrades, Fixes and Ideas

I need to remove and re-chaulk everything on the arch
 
Do any of you have any leaks at the base of the windshield? I am thinking the caulk on mine has about had it as it leaks there in a hard rain.
 
Rainy weekend projects, I finaly got a chance to finish installing a remote for my cable master. For several years I have been planning to do this but never got around to it. Last year I bought the parts and started to install it but hit a wall with the project over the winter I ordered different parts and today completed the install. It will definitely get used every time I leave and return to the dock.

Next I need to find a new steering wheel I really what to replace mine just haven't figured out what I want to get.
 
I got started on replacing the trunk flooring this last weekend. I am going to try some of the previous suggestions to weatherstrip the lid and keep the rain water out so it does not rot out again. The only part that sucks is each panel is 26.75 inches wide and 46 deep. I was hoping to do it with one sheet of plywood but looks like I will be buying 1.5

I should finish that next weekend. Then I get hauled out the following weekend. Should be back in and everything ready to go by Memorial Day weekend. Maybe by then it won't be in the 40s at night. :)
 
My floor is still in good shape. I did have an issue with the supports for the hatch cover.

I will get you the name of the weather stripping you are referring to on Friday. I have I on my boat and it worked great. You will also need to get 3m weather stripping glue to help secure it to the garage door lip. The lip of the weather stripping is channelled or U shaped and that is where the glue would go. After it is on take vise grips and crimp the edges to the fiberglass and let dry.
 
Thanks Bob. I am heading to Home Depot in a bit to get the wood. Hope to have the pieces cut and finished by Saturday.
 
Bob I want to try something as well I remind me when I see you. I added something last year it seemed to help but I'm sure there much be something better!
 
Bob - Did you figure out what seal you used. I got my flooring done this weekend so now need to put a seal on the door.

So I got an interesting email yesterday thru the Trojan forum you know the one that doesn't really think we own Trojans:)

Anyway I have had a couple of back and fourths with this guy it's a small world! It turns out he bought the Trojan that was mentioned a while back I was in a yard and a homeless person took shelter in it and make a fire to stay warm. It sounds like he has a project on his hands and he is looking forward to picking our brains for some help and advice. I for one am looking forward to hearing all about this project. It my surprise the boat only has 10 that's right ten hours on it? BTW it is a 2001 can't wait to see pictures.

I sent Les an email to help get him setup on the site.

I can't wait to see pictures! He owns a semi truck wrecking yard so he knows his way around diesels. The boat has Cummins 635s those are some big motors I'm guessing the boat can move nicely!

I have been too busy at work, cant wait to see another REAL TROJAN owner on the forum.
 
I went to the boat for a quick visit this evening while I was there I replaced the grill on my ice maker I also replaced the door seal I wish I know this was an option a few years ago. It was quick and easy I suspect it will cut down on the frost in the ice maker. I like easy projects:)

I also received the pumps for my dry bilge project I hope to have time to experiment with this over the weekend.
 
Just wanted to thank Audrey II for the help, tried to get on the forum but I guess there was a little confusion. Anyway now that I am here just wanted to say hi and to say I am a new owner of a 2001 440 Express that is in need of repair. I have tackled projects like this before but I found asking questions can save a lot of time. When I get a little time I will post some pictures of the ol girl in her present state and will to continue to post as she moves along. Look forward to hearing your thoughts.

Welcome Todd. As you can see, this thread is 16 pages long and has a lot of good info on the 440 Express. Between all of us who own one, we should be able to cover just about anything.
