Trojan 440 Upgrades, Fixes and Ideas

Somewhere I heard there was a 2002 available but I'm not sure if any were ever sold/built.
So yours is the last of the model I can't believe they didn't continue the line I really love the boats!
I'm sure when you complete yours you will love it as well.

I saw on yacht world a 2002 for sale. Only one, I can't believe there are more of them. I love our couch as it, I would change the shape of the bed to more rectangle, for the life of me I can't have any sheets that stay on the mattress for the night. New mattress is also on my list.
If you are replacing the stairs look at Odvar pictures, he did a great job on them, also the cabinet over the refrigerator.
Are you doing the work your self? Not sure if you said anything about that. On my boat I opened all the hatches available in the saloon, you should have 5 of them other than the one over the water tank and under the stairs.

Allen I am not doing the work myself, if I was there would end up being a picnic table sitting in the middle of the room. I did give the cabinet guy a challenge of giving me a large flat screen that pops up or folds down. I am all ready going with the stairs with cabinet idea.

Todd while you are at it, one of the things I did was open up the bottom of the double seat on the port side. Most Trojans I have seen have a small round opening. My dad opened it further and I can now fit 6 tool boxes in there, I will look for a picture and post.

I was actually looking at that the other day thinking there was some wasted space. If you do have some pictures please send and that could be another thing to put on the list.

I added a 12" X 24" hatch in the front of the bottom of the port side passenger helm seat. There is a ton of room under there, I store towels and cleaning products

I think I may do this as well it makes a great place for tools.

Todd, looking forward to maybe meet you up in the San Juan next summer. Great boating up there. Heading up soon for the summer.
Foe sure cut in one or two hatches under the shotgun seat. Still looking for what kind of iron you got in the engine room. If you have QSMs I got a great forum for you to check out, I have been a member for 10 years.

Yes Odvar it has the QSMs 635 horse, my other boat is running a pair of cats with 350 each. It will be interesting to see the difference even though the Sea Ray only weights about 25,000lbs.

Todd I just noticed you have a 2008 GTX I had one as well same year sold last year wasn't getting enough use. Fun ski I had the supercharged model fast as hell!

I have the supercharged one as well and the wife has the same without the supercharger, you are right it gets up and goes.

I finally got around to finishing the job of replacing both my throttle cables, and the one shift cable that I didn't do last summer. Took the boat out for a ride, and picked up 200+ RPM.

Interesting so the cable was preventing getting to full throttle? Was the cable stretched did you ever try to simply adjust it?

Any progress Todd? Wondering how far you have gotten with your overhaul.

One thing I thought of the last time I was on the boat and you may have an opportunity to address. I wish the master state room door was a pocket door. I am pretty sure it could be with a little mod to the adjoining wall next to the galley sink. Of course it would likely mean removing the make up counter and maybe mirror. Although I would consider that space better suited for the tele.

I have not had a chance to do anything yet this summer. I still have not had a haul to even clean the bottom. I am pretty sure by now I am getting close to needing new zincs too. I am shooting for the week of July 4th. Maybe things will level out for me a bit after that and I can actually enjoy summer and a few boat trips.

I agree with John, hard to get around that door. I was going to cut the door in half and make it a bifold but have not got there yet.
We still like the master head without the shower enclosed, just a curtain on a curved track in the ceiling. Feels more spacious.
Also think about putting sweeps on the shafts to eliminate shaft zincs that can slide down to the cutlass bearings as it did for me
