Trojan 440 Upgrades, Fixes and Ideas

I'm a little surprised but mine is totally different as well I will have to take a picture.

Mine are the same as Todd's, it's a matter of the layout. My DC is in the saloon and the AC is in the back bedroom

mine too

So as many here have, my center bilge always seemed to have water in it. I was sure that it was coming from first the anchor locker and then the rear trunk bilge. I fixed the anchor locker and still had water. I redid the trunk and found no way for water to get from there to anywhere.

I few weeks ago I replaced my rudder bolts and rebed them with 4200. Well my bilges are bone dry now. Even after today's run on plane for just over an hour. If you have water in the center bilge I suggest pulling and rebedding your bolts during your winter lay up. Worked for me.

I can see that, I had water show up in the center bilge, found that it came from the top of the rudder sleeve where it comes out of the fiberglass behind the panel in the the back. Sealed it and it stopped for a couple of years but now I think it's back:(

I am lost. What does the rudders have to do with this?
I have no access from the lazarette to the engine room bilge, how can water pass?

Allen. Even though the hull is solid fiberglass the water will find a way through it. In my case, and maybe others, it had worked its way to the center bilge in the salon. I suspect this happens more than people think it would.

One way you can check in water for loose rudder bolts is to put a wrench to the nut in the trunk and see if they are loose. I had this going on for as long as I owned the boat and it was never found. Not even during the survey. And as others have noted the water would create quite a smell if it was left for any length of time. No more smell :) that was the wife's first comment this weekend.

Today may become a project day even though I'm on vacation. During the ride to Montauk oth my wipers whent out the port side gets poping the breaker and the starboard side seems to be slightly out of adjustment it hits the window frame. At one point the starboard wiper travel too far and shutdown I had to push off the widow frame once in the habor and then it started to work again. Being the I plan to travel to Block island tomorrow morning anf the weather is not looking great I would like to make sure at least the starboard wide wiper is work well.
in adition to the above issue I thing I must have sucked something into the AC system because I'm not getting a good flow on either output but one is barely coming out. The forward unit shut down with an erro code but once it was reset it continues to work just fine. I don't want to wait for both units to stop before I clear the clog but im not looking forward to getting in there to work on it. Me back is still not great and it is very hard to get to!

Dave, I presume you checked the strainer? Pull it out, don't just look in it, it could be clogged with jellyfish.
I don't know how anything could get past it, so it also could be that you sucked something up against the intake on the bottom of the boat. Jump in and see if that's it.

The drains on both sides of the inside of my windshield (near the helm and portside seats) are clogged. The plastic cover with the holes in it is partially blocked by the windshield. Have any of you guys taken them off to clear the drain? If so, do I have to detach the entire aft portion of the windshield?

My port side cover pops off the starboard side is stuck in I just poke the crud through the hole with a toothpick and that usually fixes the problem.
The good news is this morning I went to fix the AC problem and everything was working perfectly before I could even touch it whatever was blocking the intake must have come free during an off cycle so I move onto the wipers of course the starboard side is working perfectly at this time but the port side is looking like a perject I noticed the my washer sprayer is not working so I'm guessing it get power from the port wiper.

I do not get that much water to those drains. My windshield does leak a bit at the base but not enough to cause a lot of water to go to them. Where does the water come from that you have that much?

Everything was working in the morning but this evening I started getting error codes must be clogged somewhere but the other unit is working fine.

I did my ruddes bolts in the beginning of the season. I will look though at the back and see if there is any way for water flow from the lazarette to the mid bilge.

On mine water gets into the stringer in the garage and finds its way to the center bilge. There are some big holes back there

There are holes in the beams in the lazarette. I run a tube through them so the water drain in to the mid bilge in the lazarette. The water in the mid ship bilge gets in from the port side through hole.
